Armageddon 2419 A.D. is a science fiction novella by Philip Francis Nowlan which first appeared in the August 1928 issue of the pulp magazine Amazing Stories. A sequel called The Airlords of Han was published in the March 1929 issue of Amazing Stories. Both stories are now in the public domain in the US according to the Project Gutenberg website. In the 1960s, Nowlan's two novellas were combined by editor Donald A. Wollheim into one paperback novel, titled Armageddon 2419 A.D. The characters and setting eventually evolved into Buck Rogers. Doch wie reagieren Akteure vor Ort auf rechtsradikale Ereignisse, Gruppen oder Phänomene, welchen Umgang finden sie mit ihnen? Und haben diese Aushandlungsmodi Einfluss auf neuerliche rechtsradikale Formierungen? An ausgewählten Fallbeispielen aus Niedersachsen untersuchen die Autor_innen Wechselwirkungen rechtsradikaler Phänomene mit der lokalkulturellen Mehrheitsgesellschaft, besonders mit lokalen Akteuren und Institutionen. With the recent advances in remote sensing technologies for Earth observation, many different remote sensors are collecting data with distinctive properties. The obtained data are so large and complex that analyzing them manually becomes impractical or even impossible. Therefore, understanding remote sensing images effectively, in connection with physics, has been the primary concern of the remote sensing research community in recent years. For this purpose, machine learning is thought to be a promising technique because it can make the system learn to improve itself. With this distinctive characteristic, the algorithms will be more adaptive, automatic, and intelligent. This book introduces some of the most challenging issues of machine learning in the field of remote sensing, and the latest advanced technologies developed for different applications. It integrates with multi-source/multi-temporal/multi-scale data, and mainly focuses on learning to understand remote sensing images. Particularly, it presents many more effective techniques based on the popular concepts of deep learning and big data to reach new heights of data understanding. Through reporting recent advances in the machine learning approaches towards analyzing and understanding remote sensing images, this book can help readers become more familiar with knowledge frontier and foster an increased interest in this field.

Songs and writings: oral and literary cultures in early-modern Finland renews the understanding of exchange between the learned culture of clergymen and the culture of commoners, or folk. What happened when the Reformation changed the position of the oral vernacular language to literary and ecclesiastical, and when folk beliefs seem to have become an object for more intensive surveillance and correction? How did clergymen understand and use the versatile labels of popular belief, paganism, superstition and Catholic fermentation? Why did they choose particular song languages, poetic modes and melodies for their Lutheran hymns and literary poems, and why did they avoid oral poetics in certain contexts while accentuating it in others? How were the hagiographical traditions representing the international medieval literary or great tradition adapted to small folk traditions, and how did they persist and change after the Reformation? What happened to the cult of the Virgin Mary in local oral traditions? The first Finnish 16th-century reformers admired the new Germanic models of Lutheran congregational hymns and avoided the Finnic vernacular Kalevala-metre idiom, while their successors picked up many vernacular traits, most notably alliteration, in their ecclesiastical poetry and hymns. Over the following centuries, the new features introduced via new Lutheran hymns such as accentual metres, end-rhymes and strophic structures were infusing into oral folk poetry, although this took place also via secular oral and literary routes. On the other hand, seventeenth-century scholars cultivated a new academic interest in what they understood as ancient Finnish poetry. The book has an extensive English Summary for the international readership.

Die vor allem durch Wildverbiss verursachten Schäden verringern die Schutzwirkung von Wäldern und beeinträchtigen den vor dem Hintergrund des Klimawandels notwendigen Waldumbau. Die gesetzlichen Grundlagen für eine Verbesserung der Situation sind größtenteils bereits vorhanden, in einigen entscheidenden Punkten jedoch verbesserungsbedürftig. Es fehlt aber an deren Umsetzung. Es werden Möglichkeiten aufgezeigt, die Probleme zwischen der forstlichen Haupt- und der jagdlichen Nebennutzung zu lösen oder zumindest zu entschärfen. Das in dem Band diskutierte Instrumentarium reicht von der Stärkung des Verantwortungsbewusstseins aller Akteure bis hin zu denkbaren Sanktionen bei gleichbleibenden Verbissschäden.
