PRE-ASSEMBLY BRACES Take the 2 end caps and firmly screw them onto the braces as shown FRONT PLATE AND CUTTER Take the cutter head and included nut and bolt and mount the cutter to the correct sized plate you will use based on your dominant hand (left or right) for orientation. Don’t overtighten as we’ll adjust the head later. 1. MAIN ASSEMBLY Slide the washers along the braces Slide the backplate to the end caps along the braces Slide the spacers along the braces Push the ruler into the slot Push the correct sized centre plate you need along the braces and ruler 2. Slide washers down along the braces and screw on the retaining nuts Screw wingnuts down the braces to an approximate position, then slide washers along the braces Slide the relevant end plate with the cutter (from pre-assembly) along the braces and ruler 3. Slide washers down the braces and then screw the remaining wingnuts down the braces Take relevant sized tube end cup and attach it to the backplate through the slot using the included alun bolt and nut 4. Basic Assembly is now complete...woohoo! USING THINGS MEASURE, MEASURE, MEASURE! Before doing anything, measure your tubing runs and then measure them again and make notes using the area in the back of this booklet. The key to a perfect run is getting great measurements. GETTING SET UP. Now you have those great measurments it’s time to setup the glass cutter. Looking top down on the cutter loosen the wingnuts and slide the end plate and cutter to correct length using the ruler. The length you need is to the cut head wheel, once things are roughly in place, move the wingnuts into position and tighten them up securely to make everything nice and solid. Measure to here 5. Insert tube fully into the cup 6. SCORING THE TUBE. 1st, place a small amount of the included lubricant on the cutter wheel and along the line you will score on the tube then, using the above diagrams for reference, place your hand on the tube and using a firm pressure rotate the tube fully back and forth, do this repeatedly until there is a very clear scoring mark all around the tube. This should only take 10-15 seconds. PLEASE NOTE. If you are left handed, and you have mounted the cutter head accordingly, the diagrams will be reversed. See Overleaf 7. SNAPPING THE TUBE. Using both hands and a firm grip, holding either side of the scoring mark, snap the tube away from you. Over time you’ll figure out the right amount of time you need to score the tube for and how much pressure you need to snap the tube. DEBURRING THE TUBE. Deburring is a very simple but very important step and is simply removing the rough edges from the end of the tube. Using the included emery paper/fine sandpaper/wet and dry paper (80 grit if you need to buy more). Rotate the tube end on the paper with a little lubricant to get a smooth chamfer. CLEANING THE TUBE. Some people like to use a dish washer, others like to use bottle brushes and even others like to just run water through the glass. The choice is yours, you’re mainly trying to get any dust from the duburring removed and also any tiny shards of glass from the snapping process We now expect to see some amazing photographs of your newly glassed builds! 8. PRO TIPS: - Measure 4 times, snap once! - Debur well, you don’t want to cut a washer. - Buy more tubing than you need. - Practice, practice, practice! YOUR NOTES: 9. SPECIAL PROJEX
