Das GKV-VSG führte erstmalig die Nutzenbewertung von Untersuchungs- und Behandlungsmethoden mit Medizinprodukten hoher Klassen und invasivem Charakter ein. Zukünftig wird die Entscheidung über die Erstattungsfähigkeit von der Dokumentation von Nutzen und Schaden abhängig sein. Grundsätzlich kann die Nutzenbewertung in drei Phasen unterteilt werden: Messen von kausalen Effekten einer Intervention, Bewertung der gemessenen Effekte und Entscheidung über die Erstattungsfähigkeit eines aggregierten Gesamtnutzens. Um den Anforderungen zu begegnen, stellen adaptive Studiendesigns, die multikriterielle Entscheidungsanalyse und die adaptive Nutzenbewertung ein zukunftsfähiges Konzept für einen schnellen Zugang von Patienten zu innovativen Behandlungsmethoden bei hoher Qualität und Sicherheit dar.

Das Abwasserabgabengesetz regelt die erste Emissionsabgabe mit Anreizfunktion in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Trotz der intensiven umweltpolitischen Diskussion über Emissionsabgaben wurden bislang nur Untersuchungen vorgestellt, die die Wirkungsweise der Abwasserabgabe vor Beginn der Abgabepflicht erfassen. Es wird deshalb ein Konzept der Erfolgskontrolle entwickelt, mit dem die Zielerreichungen festgestellt, exogene Einflußgrößen sowie der Gesetzesvollzug berücksichtigt und Ursache-Wirkungs- Zusammenhänge durchleuchtet werden. Eine empirische Untersuchung ermittelt die Gesetzeswirkungen in der Papierindustrie.

Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit einer neuer Verfahrensidee zur aerosolbasierten Erzeugung von organischen Nanopartikeln. Durch simultane Kompression und Kühlung eines Gas-Dampf-Gemischs in einer Flüssigkeitsring-Vakuumpumpe tritt Aerosolbildung aufgrund homogener Keimbildung auf. Neben experimentellen Ergebnissen aus Versuchen an einer Pilotanlage liefert die Arbeit einen Modellansatz zur Beschreibung der schnelle Zustandsänderung und des Übersättigungsaufbaus in der Pumpe.

Mittlerweile ist das Normalarbeitsverhältnis in vielen Bereichen von neuen Formen der Arbeit abgelöst worden: Industrielle Produktion ist weitgehend automatisiert oder in Niedriglohnländer verlagert, prekäre Arbeitsverhältnisse haben Hochkonjunktur und die Arbeitslosigkeit hat sich auf einem hohen Niveau eingependelt. Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town is a sequence of stories by Stephen Leacock, first published in 1912. It is generally considered to be one of the most enduring classics of Canadian humorous literature. The fictional setting for these stories is Mariposa, a small town on the shore of Lake Wissanotti. Although drawn from his experiences in Orillia, Ontario, Leacock writes in the introduction: "Mariposa is not a real town. On the contrary, it is about seventy or eighty of them. You may find them all the way from Lake Superior to the sea, with the same square streets and the same maple trees and the same churches and hotels." This work has remained popular for its universal appeal. Many of the characters, though modeled on townspeople of Orillia, are small town archetypes. Their shortcomings and weaknesses are presented in a humorous but affectionate way.

Since the 5th century b. c., archaistic figures were used as a pillar for the statues of Aphrodite and later sometimes also for other gods. The question of design and interpretation is topic of this work. The characteristics of gods were always shown in their body image and posture. To that effect Aphrodite was pictured in a casual and sensual way with a very feminine body shape. The archaistic pillar could be a way to show that nevertheless Aphrodite was a venerable goddess.

The American Jewish Communist movement played a major role in the politics of Jewish communities in cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia, as well as in many other centers, between the 1920s and the 1950s. Making extensive use of Yiddish-language books, newspapers, periodicals, pamphlets, and other materials, Dreams of Nationhood traces the ideological and material support provided to the Jewish Autonomous Region of Birobidzhan, located in the far east of the Soviet Union, by two American Jewish Communist-led organizations, the ICOR and the American Birobidzhan Committee. By providing a detailed historical examination of the political work of these two groups, the book makes a substantial contribution to our understanding of twentieth century Jewish life in the United States.
