Diese Arbeit untersucht den Entwicklungsstand des polnischen Telekommunikationssektors, speziell des Festnetzes, im Hinblick auf den bevorstehenden Beitritt zur Europäischen Union. Der Beitritt erfordert von Polen sowohl die Übernahme des <I>acquis communautaire</I> als auch eine geeignete Vorbereitung des polnischen Telekommunikationsmarktes auf die EU-Wettbewerbsverhältnisse. Unter Berücksichtigung der verfügbaren Technologien, des Grades der bereits erfolgten rechtlichen Anpassung und auf Basis einer landesweiten Marktanalyse wird die im Sinne des Universaldienstziels definierte Unterversorgung mit Telefoninfrastruktur in ländlichen Regionen als das Kernproblem identifiziert und en detail diskutiert. This boldly original book traces the evolution of documentary film and photography as they migrated onto digital platforms during the first decades of the twenty-first century. Kris Fallon examines the emergence of several key media forms—social networking and crowdsourcing, video games and virtual environments, big data and data visualization—and demonstrates the formative influence of political conflict and the documentary film tradition on their evolution and cultural integration. Focusing on particular moments of political rupture, Fallon argues that ideological rifts inspired the adoption and adaptation of newly available technologies to encourage social mobilization and political action, a function performed for much of the previous century by independent documentary film. Since the growth of social media, human communication has become much more visual. This book presents a scholarly analysis of the images people post on a regular basis to Facebook. By including hundreds of examples, readers can see for themselves the differences between postings from a village north of London, and those from a small town in Trinidad. Why do women respond so differently to becoming a mother in England from the way they do in Trinidad? How are values such as carnival and suburbia expressed visually? Based on an examination of over 20,000 images, the authors argue that phenomena such as selfies and memes must be analysed in their local context. The book aims to highlight the importance of visual images today in patrolling and controlling the moral values of populations, and explores the changing role of photography from that of recording and representation, to that of communication, where an image not only documents an experience but also enhances it, making the moment itself more exciting.

Aufgesucht wurden die persönlichen Schreiborte von Kulturwissenschaftler*innen verschiedener Disziplinen. In ihren Beiträgen eröffnen die Autor*innen vielfältige Perspektiven auf bislang kaum erforschte Praktiken kulturwissenschaftlicher Wissensproduktion. Hierdurch wird ein komplexes Zusammenspiel technisch-materieller, praktischer, medialer, sozialer, institutioneller, ökonomischer, politischer und ideeller Dimensionen in den Werkstätten kulturwissenschaftlichen Forschens freigelegt. This book presents collective works published in the recent Special Issue (SI) entitled "Aero/Hydrodynamics and Symmetry". These works address the existence of symmetry and its breakdown in aero-/hydro-dynamics and their related applications. The presented problems are complex nonlinear, non-Newtonian fluid flow problems that are (in some cases) coupled with heat transfer, phase change, nanofluidic, and magnetohydrodynamics phenomena. The applications vary and range from polymer chain transfer in micro-channel to the evaluation of vertical axis wind turbines, as well as autonomous underwater hovering vehicles. Recent advances in numerical, theoretical, and experimental methodologies, as well as finding new physics, new methodological developments, and their limitations are presented within the scope of the current book. Among others, in the presented works, special attention is paid to validation and improving the accuracy of the presented methodologies. This book brings together a collection of inter-/multi-disciplinary works applied to many engineering applications in a coherent manner.

Die vorliegende Arbeit unterzieht deshalb die Verfahren der Finanzkraftmessung in den Bundesländern einer grundsätzlichen Überprüfung und vergleicht sie mit Messkonzeptionen, die bei der gemeindlichen Kalkulation von Einnahmemöglichkeiten im Rahmen der Haushaltsplanung zugrunde gelegt werden könnten. Die Gegenüberstellung zeigt, dass kommunaler Finanzausgleich und gemeindliche Haushaltsplanung völlig verschiedene Zwecke verfolgen und die angewendeten Messkonzepte nicht nach den gleichen Kriterien bewertet werden dürfen.
