THE EMPATHY TOY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap - ihBjFpL8 REFLECT... • What was the hardest part of the exercise? • How did this exercise (or watching this exercise) cause you to think about communicating with others? • Health professionals have to communicate with a variety of people every day – what can this experience teach us about interacting with patients, families, coworkers, fellow students? 10 THINGS IN COMMON • You’ve got a big group of diverse people, so this might be a challenge! • Find TEN things that ALL of you have in common. • First team to finish their list gets a prize! THE SPAGHETTI CHALLENGE • With ONLY the materials handed to you, you must build a tower as tall as you can that will: – Support the marshmallow – Be able to stand on it’s own for at least 30 seconds without tipping over. • Rules – Your WHOLE TEAM must be involved in the design and construction – You cannot use the tape DISPENSER or the BOX the spaghetti comes in as a part of your structure. MENTORING TIME: • Use this time to wrap up your mentoring discussion for the last two weeks: SETTING GOALS. • Do NOT leave today without settling on a TIME for your next meeting!
