Decipher: Treble Clef 10/11 General Music ▪ In music we use 7 letters from our alphabet to represent the sounds we hear/play/sing. ▪ The letters are as follows: ▪ A, B, C, D, E, F, G Musical ▪ Once you say all seven letter then you start back with Letters? the first letter you said. ▪ Ex. A, B, C, D, E, F, G, - repeat back to A. ▪ But the order doesn't always start on A. ▪ Ex. C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C ▪ You can also say them backwards... ▪ Ex. G, F, E, D, C, B, A – repeat back to G. ▪ Lines and Spaces ▪ The picture below is a musical staff, where we will put our musical symbols. ▪ It is made up of 5 lines with four spaces in Musical Staff? between. ▪ After a line always comes after a space and vice versa. ▪ Staff: ▪ The treble clef tells us where to place the letters. ▪ It also tells us we will hear high pitched sounds. Treble Clef SPACES!!! ▪ The spaces are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 going up from the bottom, with space 1 being the letter F, space 2 being the letter A, space 3 being the letter C, and space 4 being the letter E. LINES!!! ▪ The lines are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 going up from the bottom, with Line 1 being the letter E, Line 2 being the letter G, Line 3 being the letter B, and etc. ▪ Sadly, this doesn't spell a word but can be remembered using an acronym: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge ▪ Since we are using letters for music that normally spell words, then we can also spell musical words with the letters A – G. ▪ Can you figure out the words below???
