HOW TO SPEND LESS THIS CHRISTMAS START HERE • Make a Christmas budget and then stick to it. Don’t compare yourself to others! • Consider limiting the number of gifts to each person or doing a family gift exchange. • It’s not just about the presents. Notice how much you’re spending on other Christmas activities. Find one area where you can cut back this year. • Remember it’s not about the number of gifts you give. It’s about celebrating your relationship & giving thanks to God for that person. • Pray for everyone on your Christmas list before purchasing anything. Remember what a gift they are. SHARE EXPERIENCES • Instead of buying things, consider going places this year. Buy your loved ones tickets to a show, musical, play, game or activity. Plan a hike or visit to a favorite place. • Try something new. Cooking classes, music lessons, or painting! • Skip the traditional Christmas presents and instead plan a family vacation. • Buy a devotional for you and a friend. Get together and talk about what you’re learning from God. SERVE OTHERS • Donate to a non-profit organization and change a life in honor of someone. • Find a service project to do with your loved ones. • Make a helping-hands coupon book. Give your family vouchers to babysit, help with yardwork, do the dishes, fold laundry, clean the kitchen, walk the dog. • Pay for a date night or babysit for a couple with young kids. MAKE PRESENTS • Bake cookies or cinnamon rolls and deliver them to someone. • Use your God-given talents as you give to others: create art, write letters, knit a scarf. CELEBRATE RELATIONSHIPS & MEMORIES • Put together a cookbook of your favorite recipes that you can share with everyone in your family. • Make a scrapbook or photo album for your grandparents. • Over the next year, write 52 notes and share them with someone special next Christmas.
