Baldur’s Mouth Est. 1240 May 5, 1492 DR Price: 1 cp WE’RE LOCKED IN! Gates closed off due to refugee problem. No one in, no one out! Captain Zodge, a leader of the Flaming Fists sits at his desk with a weary and tired look on his face. He is used to the day to day violence that occurs in Lower City but he was never prepared for his most recent task, containing thousands of Elturel refugees storming Basilisk Gate. Zodge states that there has been an alarming increase in crimes against refugees that his department has been unable to contain. “To see grown men beat up young boys for bread or for stepping on their shoes is just horrific. Something had to be done!” His pleas to the Dukes were finally answered with the agreement to close the gates. Many Elturelians have stated that their city just vanished however there is no proof. There are rumors around Baldur’s Gate that this is a military diversion being used to sack Baldur’s Gate from within. The fact that the Grand Duke is missing does not calm those who believe this is the end of Baldur’s Gate. Many point to the number of infamous Hellriders who have made their way to the gates. “ Those paladins swore oath to defend Elturel. Why do you think they are here?!” exclaims Rodger, a store owner in Bloomridge. The current governing Dukes have not done a great job at calming the nerves of the citizens and the decision to lock everyone inside has now caused unrest in Upper City. Cont. on page 2. Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard Missing! Photo: Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard T enday ago, Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard left Baldur’s Gate with a company of Flaming Fist soldiers on a diplomatic mission to Elturel, accepting a formal invitation from Elturel’s High Overseer, Thavius Kreeg. However, sources say Ravengard did not go eagerly. It took months of persuasion by his fellow dukes — the other three members of Baldur’s Gate’s ruling Council of Four — to convince him to accept Elturel’s invitation and leave the city in their capable hands. We are told that Duke Thalamra Vanthampur was especially convincing, having gathered petitions from the nobility as well as leaders of the common rabble. No one has seen or heard of Ravengard since he left. Many find this suspicious seeing that his disappearance coincides with the influx of refugees from Elturel. Is this a conspiracy or a coverup? Cause of death has been listed as poisoning though the type of potion has yet to be determined. Onlookers say that Nysene was giving a speech to her guests when she suddenly started foaming at the mouth and fell to the floor. Flaming Fist Captain Zodge states that they have apprehended the culprit but refuse to release any information. However an inside source states that murder was done by a gang of four refugees looking to steal money. Nysene is survived by her three siblings Dolandre, Rusorra, and Trenteller who vow to seek revenge on those who killed their sister. Page 8 for obituary. Dead Three Mayhem!
