2020 League of Elites Rules and Recap Keeper Rules: • A maximum of 2 keepers per team may be kept; a team can also choose to keep 0 or 1 • The 2 kept players must be different positions • Players cannot be kept 2 years in a row, even if it is a different team • The pick given up to keep said player is the round drafted the year before +1; ex: Dalvin Cook was drafted in the 2nd round he can be kept for a 1st • By this rule, 1st round picks cannot be kept • In the event a player is undrafted, the pick given up shall be a 10th rounder • If two players from the same round are kept, the pick given up shall be an extra round higher; ex: A free agent and a player drafted in the 11th were chosen to be kept. The picks given up would be a 9th and 10th round pick • Jordy Nelson Rule: If a player is on IR before the draft, they can’t be kept Scoring Rules: • Official scoring found here: https://fantasy.nfl.com/league/3223651/settings My Proposals and Changes: • Change from Standard to Half PPR o This adds value to receivers, increases scoring, and helps to alleviate the lack of TDs scored by your team in any given week. Half point is preferred to full point as 8 catches for 20 yards doesn’t constitute 10 points in my opinion. • Change from Move to Last after Claim, never Reset Waivers to FAAB Waivers o This gives EVERY team a fair shot at EVERY player any given week. Each team starts with the same number of ‘dollars’ that are used to bid on free agents during the waiver period. No real money is involved. Think that week 1 breakout will be a league winner? Maybe you’ll want to drop 50% of your budget on him; but if he fizzles out, you only have 50% left for the rest of the season. This makes waivers another strategy in itself. o The way we do it is primitive and rewards night owls who can stalk the free agent pool after waivers clear and have their pickings without losing their claim. By switching to FAAB, you can use $0 bids to automatically grab anyone who would’ve cleared waivers. • Set a commissioner o We need to have somebody in charge of rule votes, communication, and draft preparation. The constant cycling of commissioner to the winner is unique, but it isn’t very productive or helpful. o Sean should be the default, and if anybody else wants to run they can contact him. My View on the Trading of Picks Situation: The first occurrence of this was the first year I was commissioner, 2015. When Pink Floyd and Yi came to me at the draft with the idea to trade Brady for a pick and be kept for that pick. Although it didn’t make sense, a pick was being created out of thin air (as Thorne raged about). A small deliberation was had and the trade was upheld. So I guess this whole thing is my fault. So, the next year I don’t believe any of those trades happened but the year after, when the draft was at BWW, was a shitshow. We voted on the rule, and it passed surprisingly almost unanimously. So I traded away Juju to Sean for a pick, and I believe Paul made a trade as well; this was a voted on rule, why wouldn’t anyone try to take advantage of it? It was during the draft, so the acquired players had not played any games for the teams trading for them. I figured this had to be said because I thought it was implied and it clearly was not. The whole scenario with Kevin was because he traded away the pick for Adams during the season. Just as Joe M traded away his 2nd round pick for Barkley and Giron/Foster traded their 3rd round pick to Joe L for Mixon. All 3 of these teams got to use these players for the rest of the season and playoffs; that was the price they paid and the advantage they received. So, in my head, the first trades were okay for the player to be kept because they never got to play for the team to trade for them. An in-season trade can’t be kept for that pick because the player gave you an advantage for that season. If you made it this far, thanks for reading, God Bless the League of Elites, and Geo sucks.
