VACANCY: Youth Employment Facilitator Are you looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact in Education and holistic wellbeing of impoverished children and youth in South Africa? Christel House is an international non-profit school with a single mission: to prepare graduates to achieve upward economic mobility, demonstrate good citizenship and become empowered to identify and realise their goals, dreams and human potential. The 10X Youth Bridge Programme supports unemployed youth (15- to 35-year-olds) and helps them bridge the gap between their undiscovered ambitions, abilities and the opportunities that await them. Youth Bridge draws lessons learned from Christel House South Africa’s successful efforts to hold youth while they navigate this uncertain terrain. Key to our success is addressing the barriers to stable, successful employment through a character-based, career-focused readiness programme and then continuing to hold and support through the first periods of placement. This youth development programme aims to offer unemployed youth the opportunity to engage in a 6-month programme which will include full-time 1.5-month intensive contact sessions bolstered by 4.5 months of longitudinal support and mentorship. The main objective of the Youth Bridge Programme is to enable young people from vulnerable and marginalised communities to engage with potential employers and access open employment. About the position: • Reporting to the 10X Department Manager, the Youth Employment Facilitator will be responsible for recruitment and selection of young unemployed people, overseeing their development whilst they are in our programme as well as providing continuous support to those moving into employment, education and training. • Main duties will include, but is not limited to the following: • Implement and facilitate the Youth Bridge Programme • To establish contacts with local referral agencies in order to increase recruitment and retention • To maintain existing relationships and contracts to provide work placements for the young people who are not currently in work • To ensure that each young person’s Personal Development Plan is regularly reviewed and that they are assisted to achieve their employment and personal development goals • Assisting young people in building their confidence to enter the workplace • Provide mentorship on an on-going basis with the participants • Be able to work independently with regular appraisal Qualifications and attributes: • Relevant Degree/Diploma in Development Studies/Social Studies or an NQF equivalent • Proven experience in development work, specifically youth engagement and development (vocational development) • Proven experience in working with vulnerable groups and students who require mentoring and educational support • Proven experience in developing and implementing a mentorship framework, including monitoring and evaluation • Excellent Organisational skills with an analytical problem-solving mindset. • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to inspire and engage. • Flexibility and adaptability with a strong ability to set and manage targets and deadlines • Computer literate in the full MS Office sweet. • A Code 08 (EB) drivers licence id essential.
