Isaiah 5:1-7, Ps 80:9,12-16,19-20, Philippians 4:6-9, Matthew 21:33-43 Practice what you Profess Our world today needs leaders and elders who are practicing every word that they say. Otherwise, we may be included in the category which Jesus called hypocrites. There are people who profess their faith in words but they are very poor in practicing it. And there are also people who are not professed believers but live more Christian lives than many professed Christians. For us Catholic Christians, we are called by God to practice in word and deed what we believe by virtue of our baptism. We must practice what we profess. *********************************** Prayer Request for the Sick Please pray for the following individuals, that they may be healed by the Grace of God: Imelda Sandate, Diane Galindo Salinas, Mary Diane Rios, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlie & Dora Carrasco, David H. Upcoming Special Collections October 4th: Peters Pence October 11th: Catholic Charities October 18th: World Mission Sunday SERVICE Hurricane Laura Relief Hurricane Laura has brought devasta- tion to communities along the Gulf Coast. The Most Rev. Glen John Provost, Bishop of the Diocese of Lake Charles, communicated to his brother bishops that his diocese will need years to recover from the damage caused by Hurricane Laura. As of September 3, Bishop Provost explained that electricity was still out in Lake Charles, homes along the coast were littered with trees that drove through roofs, running water was scarce and non-potable, and internet and telephone service were still down. Many of the diocese’s churches, schools, religious educa- tion buildings, and rectories were severely damaged in the storm. The diocese is feeding thousands through Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana. We ask that you remember the people of the Diocese of Lake Charles in your prayers as they work to re- cover from this natural disaster. If you are interested in making a donation to the Diocese of Lake Charles, you can do so online at www.lcdiocese.org/ . Alterna- tively, you may send a check to the Finance Office, Diocese of San Angelo, PO Box 1829, San Angelo, TX 76902. Please make sure that the check is noted “Hurricane Laura Relief,” so that we can ensure these funds reach the Diocese of Lake Charles. Special Collection: Diocesan Seminarian Education Did you know that the Diocese of San Angelo gained two more seminarians this summer? That means the diocese of San Angelo now has eight seminarians studying for the priesthood. Did you know that one of our seminarians is preparing to be ordained to the priesthood in the summer of 2021? Deacon Kevin Lenius is in his final year of theological studies and will soon be ordained a priest for the Diocese of San Angelo. We share this joyful news with you because your contributions to seminarian education in the dio- cese make the continued education and the formation of our seminarians possible. We thank you for contributing to the Seminarian Ed- ucation Special Collection. You can continue to make donations for seminarian education at any time of the year by visiting www.sanangelodiocese.org/ donations and selecting “Seminarian Education” from the drop-down menu. You can set up a one-time donation or a recurring gift for seminarian education using the diocese’s online giving platform.
