Monday 12 December started with an unexpected fall of snow which added a festive feel as student musicians made their way to St Albans Cathedral to rehearse for the evening’s Carol service. It took s ome time to become accustomed to the acoustics of the Cathedral and to being accompanied by an organist, but the choristers and musicians settled well into rehearsals and the excitement began to build as each piece was practised. From 7pm, a group of stu dents, parents and Old Parmiterian bell ringers rang the bells of the Cathedral to mark the start of the service. With the lights dimmed, Once in royal David’s City began with a solo from Selma Klemming and the choir processed up the packed nave to their seats by the altar. The nine readings followed, interspersed by traditional carols and amazing musical performances. The Chairman of the Parmiter’s Foundation, Mrs. Glossop, thanked all those who had taken part in the service and all those who had brave d the snowy conditions to attend! She acknowledge the legacy of Thomas Parmiter and the wonderful celebrations that had taken place throughout the year. It truly was a magical evening ~ a wonderful start to Christmas and a fitting end to a special year 300 th Year Celebration Ends At St. Albans Cathedral St. Albans Cathedral Inside the Cathedral on the Night Rehearsal for the Choir Rehearsal for the Orchestra Organist Old Parmiterian Chris Beauchamp A Wintery Cathedral Entrance Floodlit Cathedral
