I mean they come from a different culture. It's obvious that they wouldn't imbibe the western culture completely. And it's not like the Western culture is amazing. I feel like there's no sense of community in the western culture and is guided by nihilism, hedonism and capitalism. There are pros and cons to every culture. So why the hate? I thought we were over discrimination based on skin colour. Edit- Please stop comparing how good or how bad it is somewhere else. Edit- From what I gathered, we are not looked down upon but rather ignored or avoided in general. Idk if that's discrimination 𤷠Edit- I know Indians can be racist themselves. So they deserve it? Maybe. Do white folks deserve reverse racism then? Have you been to any small towns? Every heard of the LGBTQ community? Or are you extrapolating from only having lived in urban area apartments where the population is transitory? Thereās no such thing as reverse racism. No one deserves to be treated poorly unless thatās how they are treating others and even then we should strive to show empathy when possible. People don't look down on you if you don't look down on yourself. Don't make it a Indian thing. You may not be playing at the same level at the game that is not second nature to you. Like western dating, ... If it is about dating, first we need to accept that people first prefer social status, then your own race... Social status is high for the majority, who has generational wealth, power, influence.... you are competing against all these factors, almost from ground up in a foreign country. If it is about social circle, it may be that there is not much in common between you and others to connect well. Since everyone here LOVES to hate on Indians. How many of the other races have actually tried to befriend Indians. If we love ourselves you say we have superiority complex, if we hate ourselves you say itās internalized racism. Thereās no winning....Iām an Indian just trying to live, I am a good citizen, donāt litter, try to contribute in any way I can, talk to people nicely, pay my taxes. Donāt owe anything to anyone. Love this country! Just be NICE to us. Also HALF of you called Indians smelly. How the fuck is that not racist. just a friendly reminder here. I make friends when I can. Itās impossible to be friends with someone who does not want to be friends back. Americans are generally known for being open and welcome. But itās impossible to remain open to those who are closed. In the end, it's all about skin color. Nobody gives a fuck about a weird accent or culture. Fair skinned Indians rarely experience racism in the US. Dark skinned ones do. Same for Mexicans. People are retarded and just can't comprehend that darker skin is simply because of melanin. They still think of it as "dirty" Light skin with untractive facial and physical features also doesn't get a pass. Very few other immigrant groups come to America fully educated, and yet still so ignorant and unwilling to assimilate at all. Grew up around majority Indians and they were so incredibly racist to everyone from goras, Muslims, blacks, Mexicans, etc. Indian kids had no other Indian friends and their parents encouraged it. Have seen Indians move to all the major cities in the US and still only hang out with all Indians. Hilarious to see them and cash in their social justice points and claim that people told them they smelled (when irl they fully stank) due to racism. How can you actively be racist yet claim to be a victim of racism. Pick a side! Many Indians also fight tooth and nail to come to America, and then get here and constantly complain how much better XYZ is in India as opposed to USA. If itās so great then why are you here miserable? Selfish, cutthroat culture is why India has so many systematic issues, and yet people come to America wanting to do the same exact shit. Name one neighborhood that became dominated by Indians and improved? Carl Zeiss AG reeks of racism. A lot of us come here for money. doesn't mean we come with the mindset of not assimilating. not all Indians are racist. so an Indian can be a victim of racism without being racist. so no we can't just pick a side. 2h 2 1 Meta OFoJ54 2h 4 Microsoft fgg 3h 2 1 Bloomberg quittingBB 2h 0 Carl Zeiss AG Diarrhead 3h 8 1 CVS Pharmacy oneWrld 7/19/23, 7:01 PM Why are Indian immigrants looked down upon in the US? - Blind https://www.teamblind.com/post/Why-are-Indian-immigrants-looked-down-upon-in-the-US-Nqgiansj 4/10 it's like you join a company and there are problems in that company. you complain but you still stay there because of lack of a better opportunity. you still have the right to criticize. it's the same here. that's how things improve. we criticize doesn't mean it's miserable. stop twisting words. They just donāt like the accent! And in many cases they find Indians smelly. You just canāt cure unconscious biases. No matter how much corporate training is fed to you. Agreed 100%, unconscious biases are ingrained seared deeply in your brain There's no changing it, Idk why we're discussing this in blind Because you wear pajamas out in public Hahah that was a good one. A lot of Indians I've met think Americans are stupid, but have this weird complex about wanting to live and stay in America. I get Indians are just looking out for themselves and wanting the good money and environment, but they shouldn't be surprised if the people don't like them. Plus, a lot of Indians do little cultural things like talk over other people and interrupt when others are speaking. Comes off as very arrogant. Also, the only Indians that make it to America are hyper-competitive (and with that, highly judgemental,) which isn't my cup of tea personally. watch them out compete you, sip by sip CANCEL POST Maybe youāre projecting? They create their own problems. + View 5 more replies... I would rather like to see associations that are diverse to help the immigrants assimilate. Instead of forming tiny countries. A lot of the older ones where communities are mostly assimilated have opened their doors to other groups. Iāve mentioned HIAS before. NYC also has a robust social services network. They have group specific and more general groups. Its one of the best things about New York. If you need help there are places to go. I feel like we are generalised and stereotyped. Like every other race lol. Iām an Indian, Iāve tried very hard to assimilate with Americans, Chinese, etc. but mostly felt the conversation to be superficial. I tried to invite a white person out a couple of times with friends but didnāt feel the same reciprocation. And also tried a bunch of things. It could also be due to cultural understanding. After a point just gave up and started hanging out with Indians because that was easier. I had moved to the east coast for a little bit and felt other cultures were very welcoming and reciprocated back more often. + View 4 more replies... @eggchick the country doesn't have a problem inviting immigrants for labour. the country welcomes them with open arms. but when it comes to socializing, no it's not your responsibility, but the open arms aren't so open anymore. There seems to be less racism and more mutually awkward interactions between whites and Indians though. Ie, saying āthat looks goodā and getting asked if you want a bite of someoneās lunch lol Considering The amount of racism Indians do against other Indians in India, the things you face in the USA should be considered a joke. Every country has problems but let's fix ourselves before pointing fingers at others. This ^ Honestly I think you have a lot of misconceptions about American culture and racism. First, we're not "over" discrimination based on skin color. Racism is everywhere and the US is no exception. The good thing about the US though is that it's less racist than most other countries, and the racism that exists here is openly discussed which is the first step to solving it. If you hear what Indians say about Black people... well, let's just say they definitely discriminate by skin color. Second, every group of immigrants faces racism at first. The Irish, the Chinese, everyone has gone through what Indians are going through now. This is usually because immigrants look different, act different, and talk different. And people tend to like people that are more similar to themselves, so that causes issues. Assimilation over time is usually the antidote to racism. But the more insular immigrant groups are, the less they assimilate. A lot of Indian immigrants these days seem to prefer speaking Indian languages, eating Indian food, only living in places with lots of other Indians. Some don't understand American values; others will openly criticize those values. For example, you claim there's no "sense of community" in the US. Americans are a proudly individualistic culture, and this comment is somewhat revealing of your disdain for fundamental cultural values. If immigrants are not interested in assimilating and do not respect the local culture, tensions will remain for longer. These tensions are not based on superficial characteristics like skin color but deeper cultural disagreements. + View 8 more replies... @CVS how? This is everywhere in the world.....i am black and stayed in china for a short time, unfortunately nobody wanted to interact with me I think this is true of all immigrants being perceived as someone who came from a reality where leaving for the US was an obvious choice. US apparatchiks donāt hesitate to characterize these immigrants as āthey came to America to have a better lifeā. They donāt look down on Western Europeans due to perceived better genetics and the assumption that they had a choice of a good life in Europe. Also, thereās the perception that youāre being paid less, i.e., that youāre cheap labor. They would probably be shocked to learn the real salaries. And... Indians are the visible face of the industry because theyāre many. The East Asians have more plausible deniability. You see an Indian in a tech hub, you immediately bet he/she is in tech. + View 2 more replies... Yes because thatās what happens. Communities come in and settle and have it very hard and then it gets easier because support networks form. Youāre not understanding. Germans escaping from a war and getting to the US in need of shelter barely had a choice. Germans today are part of a powerful country and have a choice. Those are two different types of immigrants. + View more comments... 49m 0 CVS Pharmacy oneWrld 45m 0 Amazon fancypass 4h 4 0 Snap / Eng š» I Left 4h 0 4 Meta OFoJ54 4h 0 Snap / Eng š» I Left 4h 0 7/19/23, 7:01 PM Why are Indian immigrants looked down upon in the US? - Blind https://www.teamblind.com/post/Why-are-Indian-immigrants-looked-down-upon-in-the-US-Nqgiansj 9/10 See more on POPULAR IN Misc.
