EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR East Hampton Historical Society East Hampton, NY We are seeking a full-time Executive Director to oversee and manage our seven museum and historic sites and our collection of over 15,000 decorative arts, fine art, and artifacts. We currently have two full-time and two part-time staff members in the advancement, education, curatorial and maintenance departments, and many volunteers. The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the staff, contracted services, facilities, programing, exhibitions, fundraising events, social media presence, and will perform a lead role in grant writing and the organization’s development. Located in East Hampton, New York (settled in 1648), the East Hampton Historical Society was founded in 1921 to serve its residents and visitors of East Hampton by collecting, preserving, presenting and interpreting the material, cultural and economic heritage of the town. Our current annual budget is approximately $800,000 and is expected to increase. The range of our activities can be seen on our website www.EastHamptonHistory.org. The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Trustees which currently has 20 members who head 10 active advisory committees such as Building & Grounds, Collections, Education, Fundraising and Special Events. Executive Director qualifications: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in history, museum studies, nonprofit administration, or equivalent degree program. Experience in museum or nonprofit work for a minimum of 3 years. Working knowledge of grant applications, current museum best practices and government mandated standards. Salary Range $100-150K commensurate with experience plus health benefits. As East Hampton is a seasonal resort, work schedules may be shifted to include weekends during the summer.
