Heresy at the NEO: A Heresy 30k event. Introductions Hi for those of you that don’t know me I’m Joe, and I like playing toy soldiers and drinking beer. I’ve been a regular at Warhammer events for quite a while now and have gotten very into 30k. I’ve attended some big events and casually mentioned to Ricci (the brains behind the NEO) that the only thing stopping his events being the bestest was that I had to play 40k at them. Problem is it was about 3am and we had been in an Irish bar a bit too long. Needless to say I took the bait and this is where we are now! The NEO has quickly become a premier wargaming event in the UK. It has a truly excellent venue with crazy amounts of space, including full air conditioning. Plenty of natural light and great facilities. The Craft beer selection is brilliant and it is just on the outskirts of Newcastle, so a VERY good night out. A Narrative Warhammer 30k: Horus Heresy event ran at a well established wargaming weekend in Newcastle. Sounds good right? So what is going to be happening? We’ll have 20 spaces to begin with but if interest is large enough we have plenty of space. Basically I just need to show Ricci that I can sell these before he lets me steal any of his 40k spaces! Tickets are £50 and will include an excellent and substantial lunch on both days! The event will be held at: Quorum business park Benton Lane Newcastle upon Tyne NE12 8BW Tickets can be purchased by sending £50 over PayPal FRIENDS AND FAMILY to [email protected] . Please include all dietary requirements and allergy information in the notes when purchasing. ALSO BE SURE TO PUT THAT ITS FOR HERESY IN THE NOTES(!) or you might up end up in a 40k GT! Time Table: Saturday: Meet and Greet: 0830-0900 Round 1: 0900-1200 Lunch: 1200-1300 Round 2: 1300-1600 Round 3: 1615-1915 Sunday: Venue Opens: 0830-0900 Round 4: 0900-1200 Lunch: 1200-1300 Round 5: 1300-1600 Awards Announcement: 1630 What you need to bring Any gaming materials you require to play, specifically: Your painted and based Army At least two legible copies of your Army Roster (in the specified format) This rules pack Pen and paper Dice, Tape Measure and Templates Objective Markers Glue for repairs Access to the game rules and your armies rules. Army Composition Armies of 3000pts may be selected using any appropriate sources with no additional restrictions. This being said this is not a tournament, so please don’t just take the most ridiculous dick kicking bullshit you can think of. In terms of organiser balancing, we don’t plan on interfering with list decisions unless we absolutely have to so will instead use in game effects if we feel like it will improve both players experiences. Without giving too much away we’re hoping to have some fun thematic things to balance (or imbalance) things up. All lists are to be emailed to [email protected] no later than Saturday 15th of February. All lists are to be submitted in a simple and easy to read format that can be easily copy and pasted into a list document, that will be made available 7 days before the event. Please don’t send us a battlescribe summary or attachment. It’s a pain. A simple list of units, with the number of models, and any none compulsory upgrades will suffice. What models can be used? The tournament is not limited to using Forgeworld and GW models only, other companies models can be used as long as they clearly represent what they are supposed to. Converted models are allowed as long as they are WYSIWYG; a model which has been inappropriately modelled with the sole intent to gain an advantage will result in its owner being taken out back and shot or(more likely) some acknowledgement of mild disapproval. If a converted model is of a varying size to the official model, and if anyone really cares, then the rough height/size of the official model should be used for LoS purposes. If you are in any way unsure, please contact us before the event. What classes as painted? Tables always look better when the miniatures are fully painted. We ask that your army really is fully painted and based. We like to think of Heresy as a game for grown ups so as a rule of thumb, if you are unsure if it will be deemed as acceptable, it’s safe to say that it is probably not. If you are really struggling to get your stuff painted. Let us know. We can probably help, source or lend appropriate alternates or even a usable army! Unfortunately we will be asking players to remove unpainted models. Rounds: Matchups will be allocated at EO discretion to keep things fun if needed. However grudges are heavily encouraged. Particularly if the ‘shit-talking’ is on point. The main difference between this rules pack and others is that the missions played will be different from table to table. Which mission you will be playing will be determined in a variety of ways: Firstly many of our tables will have a theme or terrain piece designed to give you a varied gaming experience. These will usually have a mission or special ‘in-game-effect’ attached to them. Secondly for our more generic (but also nice looking) tables we will be using a combination of randomly generated missions and deployments. Thirdly I will attempt to have alternative missions and effects for some later rounds to reflect the narrative created by the results. And give a bit of balance if someone’s been getting kerb stomped all weekend. Scoring This is not a tournament. Each game will grant the winner 3pts or 1pt if the players draw. These points will be awarded to either the forces of loyalists or traitors. These scores will be used to decide a narrative outcome. Awards There are no awards for gaming. We will have 2 Awards for coolest player. Both decided by anonymous voting by each player of which game they enjoyed most. Also, there will be an award for coolest army. Once again voted for by you guys!
