The Toilet Paper Delft, October 2020 /fsrtnw FSR-TNW@tudelft.nl @fsr_tnw Name: Juancito van Leeuwen Study progamme: MSc Nanobiology Portfolios: Transfer/structure FSC, Teaching and Examination Regulations, COVID-19 Having a hard time focussing? Not getting as much done as you want? Can you not resist the temptation to check your phone or do you end up talking to your housemates for too long? Most of you will agree that studying is not easy. Especially in these times, in which education has mostly moved to an online setting, it can be quite difficult to find focus and efficiency in your work, or even to get some work done at all. Additionally, it can be hard to keep in touch with fellow students and feel connected to your study programme. Fortunately, there are many ways to get help. Step 1 Firstly, have a look at the TU Delft eHealth tool, which has many different self-help modules to tackle for example loneliness, money managing and dealing with corona stress. Another initiative worth looking at is Boost by X, where you can get free advice by professional nutritionists, psychotherapists, and counsellors of the Career & Counselling Services. And last but not least, don’t forget that you can always reach out to fellow students for a good conversation! We are the FSC (Faculty Student Council) of the faculty for Applied Sciences, and we represent all students studying Applied Physics, Nanobiology, MST, LST, ChemE or Science Education and Communication. We are involved in the decision making in the faculty and with the help of your feedback we can make our wonderful faculty even better! This year, our main focus points involve online education. For example, we evaluate the different tools being used and the (online) quality of teaching assistants (TAs), and are looking into how student motivation can be improved. We also want to make sure there are more study spaces available for students who have difficulty studying at home and we will be looking at ways to collect all kinds of feedback to make sure that every student is heard. We hope that in one way or another we can contribute to improving your studying/working life on our faculty, and look forward to hearing from you in the coming year if you have any questions or comments. Kind regards, Juancito van Leeuwen President of FSC Applied Sciences 2020-2021 Do you have difficulties studying? Help is around the corner! TU Delft eHealth tool Make an appointment with your academic counsellor Step 2 Furthermore, every study programme at Applied Sciences has their own Academic Counselor. They can help with any study related issues, whether that might be procrastination, finding a suitable place to study or trying to stay motivated. Also for more serious issues that can affect your study performance and progress, the academic counsellors are the key step towards a solution. For example, they can help you get in touch with psychologists of the Career & Counselling Services. Let us know what you think! Follow us on Instagram! As Faculty Student Council, we represent every student of our faculty, and thus your thoughts are crucial to us. However, with many of you not studying on campus right now, it is sometimes difficult to gauge what your main concerns and desires are. Therefore, we will frequently be posting polls and questions related to our Instagram story. We will then give it our best effort to have your feedback incorporated in faculty policy.
