However, despite the numerous obstacles and necessary adaptations in our ways to live and work, it is clear that the European clusters community has been extremely vivid in 2020 by further structuring its organisation, activities and messages. The clusters community is thus at the core of the European economic recovery plan, as Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market, announced the setting-up of 14 priority industrial ecosystems and the key role that will be played by clusters in their operation. Commissioner Breton also highlighted, both at the occasion of a webinar organised by the European Clusters Alliance in June and during the European Clusters Conference in November, how clusters contribute to the current transformation into a greener, more digital and resilient continent, and that he sees them as the “bridge piers to rebuild the Single Market”. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, the development of the European clusters labelling scheme and its structuration into an international association was among the main objectives of the year. I am proud to announce that the EUCLES (European Clusters Labelling Excellence Structure) association was officially created on the 14th of December, gathering several national and regional clusters organisations into a dedicated structure that will work on the further improvement of the European Labelling Scheme. I have the great honour to be the first president of this association and will be glad to communicate further on its developments onwards 2021. In 2020, Vitagora confirms more than ever its confidence and ambition in its partnership with KBCC by opening an office in Kumamoto Prefecture building. A Franco-Japanese employee, Hanaé Lemaître, has been recruiting by Vitagora to reinforce the links between Vitagora and KBCC’s teams, to identify new growth opportunities in Europe for the KBCC members, and to promote the KBCC members’ products and technologies to Vitagora network – and vice-versa. Opening an office in Kumamoto embodies a further step towards the long-lasting collaboration between our two networks. EDIFICAT webinars: Reorientation of the building industry towards more qualitative and sustainable activities On days 23 of September and 1st of December 2020, two webinars were organized by the cross- border partner clusters CEEC (efficiency energy cluster of Catalonia) and the competitiveness cluster DERBI (cluster for the Energy Transition of Occitanie) in the scope of EDIFICAT project. They tackled the issue of Self-consumption of the Photovoltaic Electrical Energy and Renewable Heating: geothermal, fuelwood and thermal solareatheating. First were presented national regulations of these issues in France and Spain, then several professionals shared their experiences and cross- border perspectives. The replays of the webinar are available in French and Catalan here. EDIFICAT project intends to settle proper conditions for a reorientation of the building industry towards more sustainable and qualitative activities, by a cross-border effort of training, matchmaking and collaboration between companies and professionals from the building sector. It is co-financed by the ERDF Fund through Interreg POCTEFA Programme. More info here. Memorandum of Understanding between S2E2 and EPoSS S2E2 and the European Technology Platform on Smart Systems Integration EPoSS signed a Memorandum of Understanding for a strategic partnership between both platforms to establish their cooperation in the field of Smart Systems Integration in Energy Applications. The initial joint activity is a common workshop on SSI in Energy Applications. The aim of this event is to exchange knowledge between experts from both platforms and to spark ideas for innovations. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, this event has been postponed. However, collaborations continue as this year, the MARBEL project on battery systems for mobility, involving members of EPoSS (AVL, SINTEF, Fiat Research Center) and S2E2 (PowerTech System), has been funded. MARBEL is an ambitious and complex project that will last 42 months and will concern the design and construction of next generation battery packs for the automotive mass-market. 13/01/2021 AFPC newsletter 2021 https://2e0ud.r.a.d.sendibm1.com/mk/mr/3iv4rGCW1OzFcW4yujujjoOfr0isb2fPJzyaSiIkSiAzVs1rlBkbm3YfWO5YumhrP6xt_ViBoqve6qR4y2tKQ... 4/12 More information INPHO Venture Summit 2020 to serve entrepreneurs For its 7th edition, INPHO Venture Summit, organized by ALPHA-RLH, placed deep tech at the heart of the new virtual world imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
