Russian War Against Ukraine: Energy Dimension DiXi Group alert (status as of 11:00, March 2 ) #StopRussianAggression #StandWithUkraine The enemy continues to attack civil infrastructure, residential buildings, aiming consciously and targetedly to cause humanitarian disaster. Tel ecommunication infrastructure facilities became the new targets. Alongside destroying many facilities in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Lugansk and Sumy regions, shelling in a targeted manner deprives local residents of heat, electricity, gas and water supply. In total , over 15,000 consumers in Ukraine are left without gas supply. The possibility to repair gas and electricity networks is limited due to the large number of shellings. The personnel of the Chornobyl NPP SPE remains in captivity, and the facilities in the E xclusion Zone are under the occupiers’ control. So far, thanks to the courageous position of the community and local authorities of Energodar, which stopped the enemy, the threat to the Zaporizhzhia NPP (the largest in Europe) has been prevented, yet it re mains. According to reports, the South Ukrainian NPP may also be under threat. Power system operation As of 8 pm on March 1, Ukraine's power system operates stabl y in autonomous ("island") mode. The network frequency is maintained at 50 Hz. All nuclear, thermal, and hydropower plants operate in a standard mode, and all critica l energy infrastructure facilities are duly monitored. The evening peak consumption on March 1 was 14.2 GW, with no forced shutdowns of consumers to reduce electricity consumption. Daily consumption on February 28 amounted to 321 million kWh, which is 1.6% more compared to the previous day. To cover the demand, the production of NPPs increased by 1.6%, TPPs - by 11.4%, and wind power plants - by 60.2%, while production of HPPs and solar power plants dropped by 22.6% and 1.9%, respectively Radiation safety As of 9:00 on M arch 2, all Ukraine's NPPs operate stabl y . Although no violations in the safety of NPPs operation were recorded, Energoatom has strengthened their monitoring and set the highest priority for the safety of nuclear facilities. The radiation, fire, and environmental conditions at NPPs and adjacent territories remain stable and within standard limits As of 10:00 on March 1, the situation in the Exclusion Zone remains unchange d . All facilities are still under occupiers’ control, while the personnel of Chornobyl NPP, which was captured by Russian troops, are on site. As of 13:00 on March 1, the situa tion at Radon State Specialized Enterprize is under contro l , and the gamma radiation dose rate in the relatively "dirty" radioactive waste storage areas does not exceed the levels recorded before the invasion The military and regular citizens stoppe d the enemy at the entrance to Energodar in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the Zaporizhzhia NPP (the largest in Europe) is located. Following the talks, the occupiers were warned of the danger of any hostilities close to nuclear facilities. According to reports, the helicopters of occupier s also moved towards Voznesensk of the Mykolaiv region, where the Yuzhnoukrainska NPP is located Attacks: For the seventh day in a row, the Armed Fo rces of Ukraine continue to hold back the offensive of Russian occupation forces along the entire front line. The enemy's ground, air and missile strikes affect not only the military, but also critical and civil infrastructure and residential areas of citi es In the last 24 hours, a TV tower was attacked in the Kyiv regio n , and the housing sector and infrastructure in the village of Borodyank a were destroye d . The occupied settlements are without electricity, water and food Kharkiv suffered heavy losses, where rockets and rocket - propelled grenade launcher s hi t residential areas and the cit y center, hospital, university, CHP - 5, military school and other facilities. In jus t one da y , 112 people were injured and 21 killed In the Donetsk regio n , the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha are unde r a barrage of Russian jet artillery. Strikes are carried out in all areas of cities, shelling does not stop. The enemy deliberately destroys critical and communal infrastructure. E.g., strike s targete d local ut ility Komunalnyk, endangering the life of Mariupol. There i s no electricit y , gas and water supply in Volnovakha. The occupiers do not allow civilians to be evacuated throug h the "green" humanitarian corridor In the Luhansk regio n , many infrastructure facilities and networks were damaged and destroyed, leavin g almost 10,000 people without gas, more than 24,000 people without electricity, almost 10,000 persons without water supply, 180 houses and a district of the Lysychansk city without heating. Attempts to evacuate people continue So far, thousands of armored vehicles, heavy weapons and multiple launch rocket systems have entere d the Sumy regio n , traveling through the territory and firing at civilians. The city of Okhtyrka was shelled and signifi cantly destroyed, and in the city of Trostianets almost all power lines and roads were damage d The settlements of Chernihiv, Kherson, Zhytomy r and other regions of Ukraine have suff ered no less. In addition, regular looting, marauding and killing of civilians by the invaders have been recorded Countermeasures of Ukrainian companies: The storage system operator Ukrtransgaz report s that, in the night o f March 1, the territorial defense battalion discovered and detained two saboteurs near the Olyshivske storage facility. The men put special markings on the posts and fences of the locals. The saboteurs were quickly arrested and handed over to the police According to the CEO of Naftogaz Yurii Vitrenk o , who spoke at the general information marathon of Ukrainian TV cha nnels, saboteurs who placed marks have been detected at the gas transmission infrastructure facilities. The company does not know their goal, but employees of Naftogaz remove these marks to minimize the risk of attack Given the lack of electricity supply in Strilkove and Shchaslyvtseve villages for three days, stable gas supply is vital. That is why Chornomornaftogaz continue s to produce gas from the Strilkove field (Henichesk district of the Kherson region) and provide gas to locals Disruption of supply: Gas The most difficult situation with gas supply is recorded in the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Luhansk regions GTSOU informs that, as of 12:00 on March 2, the gas transmission infrastructure is opera ting without critical damage, 7 gas distribution stations (GDS) on the line of war remain disconnected. According to Regional Gas Compan y , as of March 1, almost 4,500 consumers left wi thout gas supply in 8 regions under the company's responsibility. In general, gas supply services are currently not available to more than 15,000 consumers In the Donetsk region , as of 20:00 on March 1, at least 4,680 consumers have no gas. Due to active hostilities, repairs do not seem possible. At the same time, employees of Kharkivmiskga z managed to restore gas supply to more than 500 families Also, on March 1, the Mykolayi v region was added to the list of regions where gas infrastructure was damaged by hostilities - as a result of artillery shelling, gas supply networks in Bashtanka were damaged, but the emergency crew promptly eliminated leaking Electricity The situation with electricity supply remains difficult along the entire frontline in eight regions of Ukraine. The situation in the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia regions and the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region has significantly deteriorated due to targe ted sabotage, rocket artillery shelling and Russian airstrikes. Due to fighting, employees of distribution system operators have virtually no opportunity to carry out repairs The largest interruptions in the power supply take place : • Kharkiv city and the K harkiv regio n : on March 1, the enemy actively fired on settlements, including Kharkiv, with jet artillery. According to Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekho v , many residential areas have been cut off electricity supply.
