Statement of Purpose I am ________, an Indian student hereby expressing my statement of purpose for student visa application to Canada. This document describes my academic and professional experience, as well as the reasons for choosing this course and future plans after graduation. Education Background I had my first experience with technology and computers when a young passionate me, was introduced to programming with HTML and C++ in my 10th standard at Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Delhi. I was thrilled to see the power of computing which brought my interest towards computers and technology. I developed website for nearby businesses during my school’s summer vacation, seeing how technology made an impact and how good I feel to make a change in people’s life, I realised it’s my forte. In my 11th standard, I received an award from my School’s Principal for “Excellence in Computer Science”. To further add my interest in Computer Science and Technology, I completed my undergraduate study of Engineering in Information Science and Engineering with subjects like Software Engineering, Data Structures, Programming using Java, Computer Networks, etc., from Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bangalore with First Division. In my sophomore year, I developed a full stack application for students suffering from Autistic Spectrum Disorder which gave access to education and communication to multiple innocent lives. In my senior year, I won two hackathons representing my college nationwide, one of which was presented to me by the Chief Minister of Odisha State and the other was organised by Unilever. Shaping my profession to reflect my studies in Canada I found out that my decisions should be firm and resonate a future wherein I cannot only aid a family however co-exist with a firm background support along with my passion for computers helped me fetch the highest paying campus placement in my college right after my graduation, where I designed client-side and server-side architecture, build front-end applications and developed microservices and software for leading Indian as well as Middle East Asian banks like State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, RAK Bank, Mashreq Bank, etc. Going beyond my job onuses, I developed automation scripts for my company to automate the mind-numbing reconciliation process which now processes approximately INR 13,500,000 (CAD $223,789) worth transactions every day for the company. It’s been almost a year now developing software for banks that I realise that it is essential for me to have a global approach in my horizon to accelerate my career, which is why I planned to educate myself in Canada from the most reputed University of Windsor in Masters of Applied Computing. This course fill all my gaps in my skillset. Reason for me choosing Canada for my masters Canada is a heaven for students looking for study opportunities with diverse exposure at an economical cost. This education system gives weightage to a hands on approach to problems which is quite important when someone is targeting a post graduate course which eventually will increase my skills and knowledge exponentially in near future. Canadian universities are ranked top in global rankings and when it comes to curriculum, facilities and professors it has an edge over other places. Canadians are helpful and warm hearted which is crucial trait. I am also aware of the supportive policies put in place by the Canadian Government that is favourable to international students. Welcoming policies and friendly people assure me that my time in Canada will be safe, secure, and extremely fruitful. Starting from health care to security, Canada takes all the necessary measures to promote safety of their students and even the people around. I wish to interact and know the multicultural environment and learn as many perspectives as possible. The reason why I chose Master of Applied Computing (MAC) course from University of Windsor Choosing a country for study is important and even the university where one would get his/her education. I applied to multiple institutions like University of Windsor, Lakehead University, Carleton University and Ryerson University. I was lucky to bag an offer from both Lakehead University and University of Windsor. I chose University of Windsor because of numerous reasons like better ranking, curriculum which includes advanced subjects which I studied basics of in my undergraduate and location too as Windsor has offices of IT companies which syncs with my career, like Amazon, Shopify, DoorDash, Uber, Nuance and the list goes on. Since, I am a Full Stack developer who requires deep and advance knowledge of ‘Databases’, ‘Internet Applications’ and even ‘Networking’ for them to bloom in their career. Master of Applied Computing at University of Windsor takes care of all these courses as they offer them as “COMP-8157”, “COMP-8347” and “COMP-8677” respectively which totally fits my requirements as well as quench my thirst of knowledge and “Advanced Systems Programming” (COMP-8567) subject which is quintessential benchmark for a Senior Full Stack Developer which is an upskill for my career goals. Along with the technical courses, MAC offers me “Managing Employees” (BSMM-8130) subject too which fortunately open my doors for senior managerial level technical jobs. This is why I chose Canada to be my study destination and University of Windsor as my future alma mater which gave me an opportunity to be the part of the two year programme with the subjects I am most enthusiastic about. Financing my Post Graduate Degree The full (tuition + incidentals) (4 terms) fees for my course is (CAD$ 38,760) which I have already paid in advance. I’ve also invested in a GIC of (CAD$ 10,000) via Scotia Bank for my first year and I’ve savings available for INR 15,53,276 (CAD $ 25,748) in ICICI Bank account (12xxxx21xxxxxx) which will be helping me for my boarding and other living expenses for the complete 16 months of my education in Canada. I’ve also attached my recent saving bank account statement for the above mentioned reason. About my family and financial background I belong to a family from capital city of India, Delhi. My father is a businessman, my mother is a homemaker and my grandmother is a businesswoman. I have one sibling, a sister who is a registered dental hygienist. We have our own home here in Delhi as well as a well-established business of dry fruits and Indian spices along with a shop to cater the same. Future prospects and plans Technology is a sector which creates an impact all over the world. I am glad that I am in this field and have already pursued Bachelors of Engineering in Information Science and Engineering and associated with tech company like Nuclei, I have got a good exposure at the Indian job market , requirements and what all Indian companies need as skills from their employees. I hope to develop not only as a student and programmer but also as a person and enhance the interpersonal skills I need to make an impact in the field. After the completion of my programme, I would like to come back to India and settle here and work as a Senior Full Stack Developer or a Full Stack Project Manager which is the reason why I am looking forward for this course, and after a period of time I dream to open my own technology business serving Indians and their needs. Conclusion I believe that afters months of research I have chosen the best option for myself and It will help me achieve my ambitions and I would be grateful if I am accorded with an opportunity to pursue higher education at University of Windsor for Master of Applied Computing programme. I assure that the above information is true and genuine up to my knowledge and I am ready to submit any other supporting documents upon request. I am looking forward to a positive response regarding my study permit to Canada. Thank you for taking time to read my humble request.
