Robert, the client, was looking for a concept for his future residence. The concept needed to fit the lifestyle of a retired husband and wife living on 5-10 acres of desert landscape. It started with a few simple design requirements; withstanding the heat, family oriented large patio, guest house, and a lap style pool. Floor Plan | Arid Dwelling is set onto a berm in the middle of a flat desert, giving the residents expansive views of the landscape. The continuously wrapping patio connects each space to each other. And the roof structures are free-standing, and along with the large overhangs, work to keep the heat away from the main house. Ofice Guest Bedroom Outside Dining Spa Pool Fireplace Living Room Kitchen Master Bedroom Garage Site Plan | The design utilizes a small footprint, less than 2000 sq. ft., to accomplish the needs of the client. The site can house two families with a common kitchen and dining area. The pool has a shallow “shamu” area as well as jets on the east side for continual lap style swimming. This theoretical Porsche dealership is designed to attract the petrol heads of today with its bold design and resemblance to the car parts that they are so used to working on. copyright | performancedrive.com.au Exploded Axon | The main feature of this design is the thirty foot tall tire that houses the lobby. It is designed to attract the eye and bring people onto the lot. Contrasting with the red shade structure, designed to resemble a spring coil, the tire stands out and is a nice backdrop for enthusiasts wanting to take pictures of their cars. Inside are offices and a few historical race car Porsches on display. On the West side of the dealership is a single-car mechanic shop. Gas stations are typically not the most glamorous pieces of architecture, but because of its location I believe it deserves to reflect the beautiful setting that surrounds it. This proposal for the Mobil gas station is a passion project of mine and an example of how the typology of gas stations can be great additions to the community. copyright | socwall.com Site Plan | Unlike many gas stations that primarily interact with automobiles, this design is meant to pull people onto the site. This is achieved through the outdoor seating area that is an extension of the sidewalk, and the roof patio the gives stellar views of Main Beach and the ocean horizon. The Mobil store also has a small cafe.
