In spite of the dry summer of last year and the driest February for many years, followed by a very wet March this year, I know lots of gardens have been carefully tended and seeds sown, so we look forward to having another bumper entry into the various classes for the gardeners. The front and rear cover of this year’s schedule has been designed by one of our committee members and I think you will agree she has incorporated everything wonderfully in this very special Royal year We have tried once again to accommodate all the varying crafts that people are trying out and please don’t worry if there is no specific class for your favourite occupation, there is always the open class. This applies to the children’s classes as well as the adults. You will notice that the children’s cookery this year does not specify a recipe. We hope this will encourage the children to either enter their favourite or maybe experiment with flavours. I know the judge is looking forward to sampling them. Talking of recipes we are very mindful of rising prices and have chosen items which are not prohibitively expensive to produce. Gordon’s Basket proved to be a very successful new class last year so we are keeping that in, as was the Disaster class. This is where you could still win a prize even if your entry either hit the floor on the morning of the show or grew to an impossible shape or size. Once again we are very grateful for your support throughout the year at our events to raise the funds to hold the show. 2022 cost us almost £2400 to stage and without the support of you all and of our very generous sponsors we would not be able to stage the FREE FUN FILLED day in September. Although we do have stalls and the refreshment tent (run by our wonderful W.I.) it is possible to enjoy the day and not spend a penny (although there are facilities in the hall!) So please peruse this schedule, decide what you want to enter, get your entry form in early and enjoy SEPTEMBER 2ND. We look forward to seeing you, Penny Heming 2 3 A Fun Event for All Free Admission Staging Time: 9 – 10:45 am prompt EXHIBITS ONLY ACCEPTED BETWEEN THESE TIMES Open to the public: 2 – 4 pm ALL EXHIBITS MAY BE REMOVED FROM 4 pm PRESENTATION OF PRIZES FROM 4 pm NOTE: Fruit and vegetables will be on sale late in the aftertnoon - - - - - - - - - - If you would like information about other events organised by the Village Show at Keysoe , then please check our facebook page or speak to a committee member whose names are listed on Page 22 of this schedule 4 CHILDREN’S SHOW CLASSES NO CHARGE FOR CHILDREN’S CLASSES Biggest Sunflower head Open to all ages A supplied potato in a pot Open to all ages (no sharp crocks in bottom of pot, please) (See Note 2) 3 Decorated biscuits 6 years & under (biscuits can be bought) 3 Rocky Roads ( your own recipe) 7-11 years Handwriting — 7-11 years (See page 6) 3 sausage rolls 12-16 years (your own recipe) (3-4inches long) Art & Craft: Finger painting 6 years & under A crown from recycled materials 7 — 11 years An item of jewellery 12 — 16 years Art & Craft Open Class 6 years & under (can include digital art, handicrafts, toy 7 – 11 years making, lego or anything not included elsewhere) 12-16 years A growing plant Open to all ages 5 CHILDREN’S PHOTOGRAPHY ( All photographs to be no larger than 7 x 5 inches ) All classes open to children 11 years & under and 12-16 years Open class (max 3 entries per class) Animals and/or People (max 3 entries per class) Countryside/Landscape (max 3 entries per class) Each photograph requires an entry form Names on back of each photograph please PRINTING YOUR PICTURES We realise sometimes printing your photographs has made it harder to enter your pictures into the show, so therefore this year, if you would like your photographs printed in order to enter them in the show, please email them to Nikki, and she will print them ready for entering. 30p per print — payable on show day - Nikki@oliviabea.co.uk See Children’ s Craft Inspiration Boards on Pages 7 and 8 or for more ideas checkout www.pinterest.com 6 BED IN SUMMER by R.L.STEVENSON In winter I get up at night And dress by yellow candle-light.
