Here’s what’s been happening in the last month in our Westhoughton Neighbourhood Watch area We’re pleased to share the latest news and activity from our Westhoughton community Our mission is to keep Westhoughton a safe, connected, and welcoming place to live by working together and looking out for one another. Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all residents who have supported the Neighbourhood Watch scheme—whether by staying alert, reporting concerns, or simply checking in on neighbours. Your involvement really does make a difference. In the past month, we’ve worked closely with local partners and Greater Manchester Police to share crime-prevention advice and address local concerns. We’ve also welcomed new members to the scheme, helping strengthen communication across the area. Westhoughton South Ward (latest year data): Very low overall crime – around 0.2 crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent, vehicle, anti-social behaviour, burglary, drug offences, shoplifting, public order and weapon possessions were all very low or zero in the past year. Westhoughton North & Hunger Hill Ward: Also shows low crime compared to national averages. Violent crime is minimal, and overall levels are below the Bolton average. Westhoughton North and Chew Moor: Reports show modest recorded crimes in recent years. This area can sometimes be slightly above average for Bolton, but still with relatively low absolute levels. Monthly Newsletter NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH 31/ 0 1/ 2 6 ISSUE #1 Drug-related arrest (January 2026) A police raid on Hindley Road resulted in a 41-year-old man being arrested on suspicion of possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply. Officers seized cannabis and cash. Police priorities and prevention operations In both Westhoughton South and North neighbourhoods, the local GMP teams are participating in Operation North Star, which includes increased visibility focused on crime prevention and campaigns such as anti-drink/drug driving enforcement. Community News 🏆 The Beer School – Market Street, Westhoughton The Beer School was recognised at the Best Bar None Bolton Awards 2025, winning Platinum, Special Recognition, Community awards. These reflect its strong commitment to a safe, welcoming environment, well-trained staff, and positive community involvement, including support for Pub Watch and local events such as the Westhoughton Christmas Market 🍻 The White Horse – Bolton Road, Westhoughton The White Horse has been recognised through the Best Bar None Bolton scheme for its contribution to a safe and well-managed local venue The pub plays an important role in the community, providing a welcoming space for residents while supporting responsible management and community safety. Volunteer Spotlight 🌼 Councillor David Chadwick – Westhoughton South & Community Volunteer David is recognised for his dedication to Westhoughton, supporting local schools, charities, and community initiatives with warmth and commitment, making a real difference to his neighbours. Volunteer Spotlight 🌼 Lesley Monks – Westhoughton Assist Service Volunteer Lesley is one of the dedicated volunteers behind Westhoughton Assist Service, a community initiative set up during the pandemic to support people facing hardship with emergency food packs and subsidised shopping.
