This road is about 2 miles down the road from the Eagle Harbor CutOff Rd. Continue up Gratiot Lake Rd for 2.7 miles and turn left on Horace Greeley Rd. Continue up the road .4 miles until you reach the site. If you see a million NO TRESPASSING signs on Horace Greeley Rd, you’re at the right place. Take Lac La Belle Rd 7.4 miles to Smith Fisheries Road, just before you reach the bay. (For some reason the road has a no trespassing sign, which you can ignore.) Keep on Smith Fisheries Rd. for 2.5 miles until you get to a spot to the right with parking for 34 cars. After a .7mile walk down the old road, a blue sign to the left signals the beginning of the hiking trail. Soon another sign with a map of the 3mile loop emerges. As you head up, be sure to follow the blue stenciled arrows. At one point fairly near the bluffs, the trail dips for a short way and the trail makes an unmarked lefthand turn which is easy to miss. Turn right on M26 across the bridge towards Dollar Bay and continue 10.5 miles till you reach the town of Lake Linden and turn left on 10th street. Continue .2 miles until you see a bridge crossing over the road. Park here. Now begin hiking north on the snowmobile trail for about .3 miles until you cross a bridge over the Hammell River. Hike to the bottom of the gorge and hike up stream for about .8 miles until you hit the waterfall. It’s private property and there are other ways to get there, but this is the most scenic and interesting way there. I have seen an Astrovan make it, but it was sunk up to the hood in water a couple times. Continue 200 feet till the road splits, take the left fork going steeply uphill on a seasonal road. Continue .2 miles and take a left on road you reach at the base of the second hillthis should be your second left. There is a parking area at the end of the road. The first is about a .2 mile hike from the parking area and is the largest. The last waterfall is past the dam and the lake and is my personal favorite. The one you see from the road is only the tip of the iceberg. The Jam Pot is just down the road where crazy monks make some of the best jam and baked goods. Continue for about 2.7 miles to a split in the road and turn left. Continue .7 miles to the Rocket Range at the shoreline. Continue for 5.2 miles till you reach the second paved road immediately before Eagle Harbor on your left. Directly across the street will be a dirt twotrack with a Nature Conservancy sign. Turn left to stay on US41. Follow US41 through Hancock and at the sharp right and turn to head up the hill (1.3 miles from the bridge) turn left on Ethel towards the Keweenaw CoOp. Continue .3 miles on Ethel and turn left on Ingot. Continue .3 miles and turn right on Birch St. follow this road till it becomes dirt. From here an expanse of trails await you. Turn left to stay on US41. Follow US41 through Hancock and Calumet continuing for 28.6 miles to Eagle Harbor CutOff Road. Continue down Eagle Harbor CutOff Road for 5.5 miles until you come to M26. Turn left down Pine Street at this intersection and continue for .8 miles until the road splitstake the right fork. Continue for another .6 miles until you reach another intersection. Continue straight through the intersection veering a little to the left. The road becomes relatively straight and flat, and after 1 mile or so the road will turn sharply left. Continue 1.6 miles and take the left fork to stay on Tamarack Waterworks Rd. Continue another 1.1 miles and turn right on Sedar Bay Rd. follow Sedar Bay Rd. for 3.1 miles till just before the end of the road. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The footpath snakes along Superior's shoreline and has some impressive cliffs leading to the water. On a high wind and huge wave day this might be pretty spectacular. Also one option is kayaking from Lac La Belle to here in a day along the shoreline. It’s a beautiful kayak trip and worth your time 100%.
