Globeia Published by : https://www.globeia.ca/ Whether we are applying for a new job, going abroad for new opportunities or applying for a specific permit, in most cases we have to undergo a criminal record check in Canada. The main reason for this is that the organization that requires it wants to make sure that we are safe when dealing with them. RCMP criminal record checks are also required to ensure that you are legally and judicially “clean”. Once you are on the job, you can easily get many requests for criminal records checks. How do criminal records checks work in Canada? In Canada, criminal record checks are conducted by Rcmp under several other names, such as "police record checks”, “criminal history checks” and “police clearance”. Officers check the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database to see if there are any noteworthy entries. Essentially, they check to see if there is at least one entry related to the applicant's name and date of birth. The database is managed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Many employers in Canada prefer the RCMP's Criminal Record Check (CRC) method because of its good history and reliability. A criminal record check based on name and date of birth alone does not indicate a criminal offense. Instead, it only indicates whether there is a connection to the given name and date of birth. However, the RCMP check may list offenses for which a pardon has not been granted. There are three types of criminal record checks: Criminal Record Check This type includes only criminal convictions and convictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). Criminal Record and Criminal Case Check This type of check includes the information from the previous type, as well as the following: ● Court decisions ● Indictments and arrest warrants ● Conviction orders ● Active probation and restraining orders ● Offenses for which you have been irrevocably released (except offenses for which you were convicted more than one year ago) ● Offences for which you have been granted conditional release (except offences for which you were convicted more than three years ago) Checking criminal records of vulnerable persons This type of check includes the information from the previous two types, as well as the following Recent cases of insanity based on mental disorder (except for those who have been fully discharged) Suspension of convictions for sexual offenses Information on non-criminal convictions, such as dropped and dismissed charges in exceptional cases. Information that is NOT included in the criminal records check. There is some information about you that is not included in the check.
