NETZHI / SYNTHETIC FIXTURE / NO REAL CHAT DATA 1 Debug the parser. Keep the chat private. A small synthetic fixture for chat-export importers Netzhi practical reference | November 2026 When an importer fails, sending the complete archive often shares far more information than a maintainer needs. Start with a deliberately invented sample that reproduces one problem. Keep the original export unchanged and offline while you investigate. 1. State the boundary before testing Write down which component failed: reading bytes, decoding JSON, finding the message collection, flattening text segments, or resolving a media path. A successful JSON parse does not prove that an export contains every message or that referenced media files exist. The example below is an internal test fixture , not a complete Telegram export schema. Adapt your importer's input boundary explicitly. Do not describe this file as an authentic user export or a compatibility guarantee. { "messages": [ { "id": 1, "text": "plain sample" }, { "id": 2, "text": [ { "type": "bold", "text": "marked" }, " sample" ] }, { "id": 3, "text": "" } ] } 2. Make the expected result explicit For these three invented messages, the expected flattened strings are plain sample , marked sample , and an empty string. Preserve the order. The second value deliberately mixes a text object with a plain string; the third checks that an empty message is not silently dropped. This fixture contains no usernames, phone numbers, real timestamps, session files, media, or copied conversation text. Invent identifiers and words from scratch. Replacing names in a real archive can still leave private filenames, quoted replies, links, or metadata behind. NETZHI / SYNTHETIC FIXTURE / NO REAL CHAT DATA 2 A useful failure report Reproduce one behavior; document the limits of the result. 3. Test the small transformation def flatten(value): if isinstance(value, str): return value if isinstance(value, list): parts = [] for item in value: if isinstance(item, str): parts.append(item) elif isinstance(item, dict) and \ isinstance(item.get("text"), str): parts.append(item["text"]) else: raise TypeError("Unexpected text segment") return "".join(parts) raise TypeError("Unexpected text value") Run the valid cases and at least one unsupported value. A number, null, or an object without a string text field should produce a clear error here. This deliberately strict helper does not support every possible export structure. Extend it only after describing the new input case and its expected output. 4. Attach a concise receipt Record What to include Input The invented fixture and its purpose Environment Importer version and runtime version Reproduction One command or a short, exact click sequence Expected / observed Literal expected strings; the actual error Limits No claim of archive completeness or media integrity 5. Expand only when the small case passes Next test one additional boundary: a missing key, a mixed Unicode string, or a missing media reference. Keep each case separate. A passing synthetic test narrows a defect; it does not certify a real export, prove that every chat was exported, or establish that a backup can be restored.
