BATCH DIVISIONS FOR NEW JOINERS Different batches are made to minimize the knowledge overlapping and wastage of time of a student… to a maximum extent! A free assessment session [Demo] will be done to understand how much the student knows and then they’ll be put in the batch that suits them right. The following are the brief summary of the batches: Pawn batch: Novice Level 1 – Outright beginners who’s completely new to chess Level 2 – Ones who knows only the piece movements Knight batch: Advanced Beginner Level 3 – Ones who know more than just the piece movements – BUT not about checkmate in 1 or 2, King and Queen Mate, Rook roller mate or Basic tactics like Pin, Fork etc Bishop batch: Intermediate Level 4 – Knows all that Level 3 doesn’t [ Checkmate in 1, Checkmate in 2, King and Queen Mate, Rook Roller mate or basic tactics like Pin, Fork etc] Rook batch: Competent Level 5 – Knows till Level 4 + Knows how to do King and Rook mate, Double Bishop mate, knows basic endgames and has a fine hold on their game Queen batch: Advanced Level 6 – Knows till Level 5 + better at endgames and strong in tactics King batch: Proficient Ones who shine so bright that he/she can’t be ignored! Knows all till Level 6 + Has a better hold on their game. Beginners’ Course: Program Novice Program NOVICE is designed for those students who are enthusiastic about mastering the game of chess, but are now, just beginning their journey in chess. This program is designed in such a way that it solidifies the basics and the fundamental understanding of the game in every student. Many think that once they know how the pieces move, they’ve mastered the beginner’s level. But no, the basics of chess has more to it than just the piece movements and all those “more” stuff will be explained and taught here. Further, the program segregates the beginners into 3 levels and then, they are divided in 2 batches. This is to make sure that the student will not miss-out any part of the basics and also to see to that the knowledge overlapping or wastage of time is minimized to the max! The following are the segregated levels: Level 1: The student learns from the complete basics of chess – Introduction to the game of chess, chessmen and chess board and brief piece movements Level 2: This solidifies the written rules of chess - The piece movements, special piece movements, piece captures and all the rules that there is to study in the beginning stage will be taught. Level 3: The basics of chess checkmates and tactics will be taught and mastered. The Level 1 and Level 2 will come under Pawn batch, where they’ll have a systematic introduction to the game of chess, to chessboard & chessmen and to other basic and essential topics. Once the student learns all these things, they get promoted to Knight batch (Level 3), where they’ll be taught how to win the game, how to checkmate their opponent and plans/basic strategies to convert the winning game into a win. Not only will the coaches strive to explain these concepts in their own and simpler way, but also, they’ll be showing animated chess videos to attract the kids and make chess more fun to learn! PROGRAM NOVICE’S MODULE: BRIEF OVERVIEW 1. In Pawn batch, L1 & L2 will learn: • Introduction to the Game of Chess • Chessboard & Chessmen • Chess Notations • Piece-movement rules • How the Pieces captures • How pieces attack and defend • What is a Check? And how to put the opponent’s king in check • Principles to get the King out of Check • Special Chess Moves like Castling, Promotion, Under-Promotion & En-Passant • Values of the pieces • Brief Checkmate ideas COURSE DURATION: 12-hours NO OF SESSIONS: 12 Sessions over 6-Weeks 2. In Knight batch, L3 will learn: • Art of delivering Checkmate in One move • Learning to Exchange correctly • Basics of Opening Strategy • Common Opening errors • Common Checkmating Ideas • Art of delivering Checkmate in Two moves • Elementary Checkmate with Two Rooks • Elementary Checkmate with a Queen • Students will start playing Training Games with simple opening set-up. • 2 Class-level competition will be conducted! COURSE DURATION: 24-hours NO OF SESSIONS: 24 Sessions over 3-Months
