Contents ○ INTRODUCTION ○ BEFORE YOU BEGIN ○ HOW TO: APPLICATION ○ HOW TO: HUD ○ HUD EXPLAINED: Introduction ” Insert quote here. This must be quite the experience for you if this is your first time! First of all, welcome! We're very glad to see you've decided to try us out and we hope you have a lot of fun here! As you might have guessed a Z & Pry sim isn't like your everyday roleplay sim you might find in SL. There's stats, homebrew lore, Storytelling and intense plots for you to interact with! It's rare to see a sim do such things, so it might be a little shocking and something you're not quite used to. But don’t worry! I’ll do my best to make the information easily accessible, easy to read and helpful. (I hope~!) I’ve noticed that there’s people that are new to a Z & Pry sim, people new to SL RP, or people that have RPed elsewhere and have decided to come over and see what the hype is all about! This is wonderful news, of course! But it also comes with a new system for folks to learn, a large amount of lore to sift through and a somewhat intimidating application process. So this one is for everyone that’s either looking to join or has already joined! I’ll include a step by step guide of as many systems as I possibly can to help you on your journey to getting to know the sim, the owners and the rest of the player base. What is Convergence? Convergence is the brainchild of Zekkiel Zerundi and Pryar Kirax who have poured their blood, sweat and tears into the sim to provide everyone with a place they can roleplay and feel like they belong. The general plotline can be described as Mundane and Supernatural threats meet Global Climate Crisis for the ultimate fight for survival as players attempt to form a truly multicultural society on the Isle of Convergence set in the near future. BEFORE YOU BEGIN How to: Get information in world? IM Vergie (cvtscbot) with the following: !ooc - observer tag !landmarks - landmarks !welcomeinfo - Welcome NC Vergie is located in the OOC zone, click here to go to the landing zone. She’s usually standing in the corner where you land, just look for the name Vergie (cvtscbot), but be aware she’s a bot and thus does not have an actual person typing to you. She’s limited in what she can do for you, but we all know she cares for us which is why you’ll see people referring to her as MomBot! Do not be afraid to ask questions. Our mentors are here for you, as are other players! Ask others, ask in the discord, ask in the OOC chat, page a mentor or request their help in the question channels! HOW TO: APPLICATION Step 1 : Go to our enjin website by clicking here. Create an Enjin account and verify through email. Step 2 : Whilst not required I strongly advise you to join our discord as this is where a lot of OOC chatter and often announcements and other interesting tidbits are posted. Download discord here, then click here to join the Convergence Discord. You can also join by going to the top of the Enjin website and clicking the button that says Discord. Step 3 : Click forms - Application form. Step 4 : Fill in your Second Life avatar name. I’ll take my own for example, my SL name is Kurai Thei, but it shows in Second Life as kurai.thei, make sure you write your name down without the dot in the middle. If you’re not over 18, you are not supposed to be on our sim as it contains adult themes. By clicking yes you’re also agreeing you are over 18 years old. Anyone caught roleplaying on our sim that is under 18 will be banned immediately because you’re breaking the Linden lab Terms of Service. For the next question make sure you click the link next to the question and read through our rules, then select yes. Step 5 : Next you fill in the full name of your character along with any aliases. Fill in your age, only robots are allowed to put unknown for age. Every other race has to be over 18. Vampires need to be turned at 18 or over, etc. Then select your race. Depending on your race another box will pop up, asking you what subrace you want to be. When selecting races and subraces make sure to carefully read the powers and weaknesses, along with the purple section under each sabrace to see what abilities will be special to them. One recommendation from our players to those making their first (Or 2nd or 3rd!) character is to read them carefully when deciding! Step 6 : Each race page can be found under the races tab at the top of the Enjin page. (Pictured on the right) From there you’ll find large amounts of information on the race you might want to app in as. We know it can be a daunting task as there is a lot to read, but you can take your time doing so! From there scroll to your chosen subrace and copy/paste the purple section into the application. (In the box pictured above!) Step 7 : Click the link next to the question, scroll until you see your chosen race and copy paste. Step 8 : We know many have struggled with the next two portions of our system. If that is the case for you we highly encourage you to contact a mentor. They’re actually there to help you with this so you can breeze through the application process and get to roleplay as quickly as possible! Mentors can be contacted through our Discord by posting your question and/or request for help in one of the following channels shown on the right. The other way to contact them is through the OOC landing zone, where you can click the button that says mentors. It’s through the archway that’s beside you when you land with several other interesting/helpful buttons! When you click the example stats link you’ll be shown a simple example of how skills & Stats can look. It might be helpful for you when figuring out what to do with all these numbers! Then, click the provided link to go to the stats page. Here there’s more information on what stats are, what they mean and what skills can be chosen. It will explain to you what your health pool is and what it’ll mean for you in roleplay. It’ll explain Essentia and Karma in a similar manner. Note: Your essentia Pool and Magic Capacity are two different things and are explained under Essentia. Next up it explains what each stat does/can be used for. Carefully read through them to decide what your character has focused on. If they are really smart, then Intellect might be more important for you. Strong? Prowess and perhaps Defense, or Vitality? By spending your 15 stat points you can build your character the way you want to, providing you with a lot of freedom. The best way to start would be to copy/paste the stats you provided on an earlier question, as these are your race’s base stats. From here you start spending points to build your character. Be aware that we use a 10 sided dice system, which you then count your stat and your skill to. An example would be; I apped in as a Sorcerer and I’m rolling for persuasion. I used my points to buy +4 Social. Social: 1 + 4 = 5 My total stat for Social is 5. For my skills I chose Psuasion, and it’s at 1. I rolled a 2 out of a possible 10, my stat of +5 is added as well as my +1 in persuasion. In the end my total is an 8! This is important for you to know so you can make smart decisions when creating your character to ensure they’re good at the things you’ve chosen for them. If your character has been a politician for 50 years it would make sense for them to be good at it, right? So keep that in mind when you’re choosing your stats. We do not allow you to go over 5 with any stat when apping in, meaning that your race’s base stats + points used in the app can not go over it. Only after approval and when buying it with XP can you go higher than 5. Step 9 : Now we get to skills! Just like with your stats it’s highly encouraged that you spend them with your character in mind. What are they good at? Do they have any hobbies? Keep in mind that you do not need a stat for everything, if your character likes riding horses they do not need the skill. However if you ever plan to use the skill for perhaps an St scene or in a way only perhaps a professional would then you should probably buy said skill. Like with the stats there’s a link to the Stats and Skill page, along with an example so you know what it should look like. See stats as having 20 dollars to spend and each skill will cost you 1 dollar. You can only have 3 skills that go higher than 1, and they can go no higher than 3. Like the example shows you at most you should have 3 skills at 3, with all the other ones at level 1. You can mix this up to, for example, buy 3 skills at level 2 as well. But for ease of explaining we’ll assume the regular expenditure of 3 level 3’s, and the rest being level 1. As you saw with our stats, skills are important because they will be rolled with your stats and a d10 dice to end up with your final score. We suggest that you purchase 3 skills that your character is the best at and filling in the blanks with your remaining 11 points on level 1 skills. Step 10 Next up, magic! I don’t know about you but I love picking magics. It’s like picking your own present for Christmas! You can find magics under Systems - Magic. Humans can not wield magic unless they are sorcerers. For those apping in as one be mindful of the fact Sorcerers are new to magic in our lore as they can only awaken to being a sorcerer when in the city of Convergence. Mutants also do not start with magic, instead they have mutations. Everyone else gets to pick two, so read them through carefully to decide! As you can not change it later on, but you can buy more magics with XP after approval. Every single supernatural gets ritual Magic for free! You do not need to buy this, the first ritual magic everyone gets is called Glamour. This allows you to change your appearance to a human one so you may blend in with the crowd, if you want to! Check with your race and the rules they have up to see what type of rules they have on glamouring! Keep an eye out for any red text on the magic page, they contain important warnings! Step 11 For the next step we ask you to provide a backstory for your character. We’re aware that not everyone enjoys writing these and would prefer to create their character as they roleplay. I’ll provide you with the biggest things we look for when reading through backstories so you can write yours with approval in mind! Things we would like to see mentioned; - Main Lore points: Things such as the Big One and how it impacted your character (If it did at all!) How you heard about Convergence City appearing out of nowhere and decided to go there. Also how you went there (It’s an Island!). - Race Lore Points: When reading through your race page there should be things mentioned throughout you can weave into your backstory. A vampire can mention the Carpathian Council or their sire, a Fae can mention their youth in their Hollow and a Sorcerer is expected to explain how they experienced their Kindling. If your race has something specific they go through like the Sorcerer's Kindling or a Human being turned into a vampire then we like those to be included. - Does your background fit your chosen race/character? It’s something the app handlers will look for, when in doubt ask a mentor! Step 12 Here we would like to see a total estimate of your assets as a number. It can be a rough estimate and you’re allowed to list specifics. Do keep in mind that we might not allow you to come in with everything you request because we’d like for you to obtain them through roleplay. NOTE: Money and its usage in CV:TSC is done by an honor system. What this means is that we will trust you to keep your character’s financial limitations in mind when trying to spend money. You do not need to keep detailed records, all we ask is for your IC actions to make sense based on what they have. Step 13 Next we ask you to list any connections you’re coming in with. Things such as a vampire coming in with a sire or someone being a family member. If ICly you have a connection with someone, include them here. The ‘Anything else you want to mention to the application handlers’ question is for detailing any specifics that might not have been asked for with our other questions that you feel the app handler should know about. Step 14 And that’s the end of it! Double check your app and make sure you: - Spend 15 points on your stats, and that your race stat + spend points do not go over 5. - You used up all your 20 skill points and you don’t have more than 3 skills over 1. (And that nothing is higher than 3 points!) - You selected the right subrace and pasted the correct purple section of your chosen subrace. - You submitted a backstory either by pasting it the box or submitting a google doc (With the right permissions!) - Gave a total estimated value in numbers of how much money/valuable items your character has. All good? Then hit that button and submit your application! Check back often as the app handlers will reply to you in the comment sections at the bottom of your application! Give them at least 72 hours for their first response to you and if they see something that needs to be adjusted then responses can also be delayed between comments. HOW TO: HUD What is it, how does it work!? Excellent questions that will hopefully be answered by the end of this guide! The HUD was made by Kairixian Moonshadow and has been built with many handy functions to aid you on our Sim and help you in roleplay. The HUD only works on Sim! If you try to use it anywhere else it will not respond! Note: When you’ve bought stats/skills with XP you will have to manually adjust this on the web portal. It is not automatic. Click here to go to the manual written by the HUD creator. Step 1 Go to the OOC zone, wear your Convergence - The Synchronous City group and click the HUD giver. It looks like this -> As long as you’re wearing the right tag it should give you a folder called CV4-TSC HUD System (Gen 4 - v1.25). In here you will find 3 gestures, a Titler and a HUD. Step 2 You’ll be presented with a pop up that gives you the option to go to a webpage, click it. You’ll be taken to the web portal. Fill in your character name and your race, then click create. Note: You can not change the name of your character, but you can change the display name. When you submit tickets you’ll often be asked for the name that’s on your Web Portal, the one that can not be changed. NOTE: The system will not permit Unicode characters, and will strip them out. The next section shows your current health, Essentia, and Karma. Below that is your current XP you’ve saved for this month with the total XP you’ve saved up over time on the right. Stats like Health and Essentia will change depending on your point expenditure during your app process. Step 3 Now we start filling in the different categories. Any stat present on this page needs to be filled in with what you’ve bought during the app process. They already have the base stats of your race coded in, so keep that in mind when filling it out. Do the same for Powers, Magical Defenses, Physical defenses and Martial skills. Note: Some skills are not coded into the HUD and must be rolled manually. Step 4 Under titler you can fill out the lines with anything you want displayed over your head in world. Don’t forget to hit SUBMIT CHANGES! HUD EXPLAINED: At the top right of the web portal you’ll find these buttons. Select another PC is for when you have more than 1 character, it will bring you back to the home screen where you can pick another character through the drop down menu. Make active PC is how you activate them to show on your titler and make the HUD know to implement the noted stats and skills. Here it explains what each button is on the main menu of your dice HUD.
