Dead in the Snow: Episode 1 written by Henery Johnson Address Phone E-mail TEASER EXT. A DARK, SNOWY, MEDIEVAL SCOTTISH FOREST - NIGHT Shawn (a worn traveler, Mid/Late 30s, with Black slightly grayed hair) is riding a wagon. SHAWN Ain't this place a beauty? He looks into the wagon, and at the door ROOKIE (a large dog with black fur and white spots) stands panting. SHAWN (CONT'D) I'll feed you at the next stop. Around them, there is a beautiful forest with massive, red- wood sized spruce trees. The sun reflects on the snow, and the quiet is only interrupted with the occasional neighing of the horses, and the creaking of the wagon. They ride though a light mist, that freshly blows from left to right with a beautiful whistle. ROOKIE (Quietly with rolling "r") Grr. . . In the distance, beautiful mountains dot the horizon. Somewhere, the faint whispers of a vaguely Scottish marching song echo through the land. SHAWN Quiet down back there, Rookie. Shawn, hearing the song puts his hand to his chest, and begins to sing––though all he can hear is the echoed thumping of the distant instruments. SHAWN (CONT'D) (In song) What my mother said, // it (beat) was that I should buy // fley and beautiful oars // to go to the vikings shores // stand upon the brow // steer the arks knerri // keep it to the port // chop man and other // chop man and other ROOKIE (Barking) Arf! Arf! 2. The wind whistles, and suddenly, Shawn sees a man hiding in the distance. SHAWN Hey, you! The wagon comes to a stop. BANDIT BOSS, BANDIT #1, BANDIT #2, and BANDIT #3 stand in front of the wagon, and Mage jumps down. BANDIT BOSS Off the wagon, you! Walk off an' nobody gets a knife in 'em, eh? SHAWN I'm already off. BANDIT BOSS I'm gonna need whatever you've got in there. Ye'r flying a banner 'ight? You oughtta have somethin'. Atop the wagon, there is a banner we didn't see before. The banner is black, with a white skull on it. However, in a disturbing twist, red paint is splattered on the bottom right half. BANDIT BOSS (CONT'D) Never heard of yer . . . Skull faction or whatever though. Inside the wagon, is nothing but a few books, some clothes, a cot, a dog bed, and a light desk. Rookie lies on his small bed, and starts to wake. SHAWN Let's not make a scene, I've got a Rookie back there, and you don't want to mess with him. He's a mighty good one at that. BANDIT BOSS Ya mean a Knight? With the likes of you? Ha! Guys, looks like he ain't leavin'. Let's get 'im. Rookie hops out the back of the wagon, with nobody noticing. Then, Shawn looks back and subtly nods at him. SHAWN Splendid. Shawn produces a staff with a sharpened metal end from a compartment on his wagon. 3. He stabs the staff into Bandit Boss's chest, ripping a glowing blue spherical core from his chest, smashing it on the floor. BANDIT #1 W-What? A Mage! You dirty little- Shawn casts into Bandit #1's chest, bloodying his cloak and setting the bandit aflame. Bandits #2&3 close in, and Bandit #3 stabs Shawn in the shoulder with a sword. BANDIT #3: No! Brother! Shawn groans in pain, knocking Bandit #2 down with his staff and kicking away Bandit #3. BANDIT #3 (CONT'D) Stop! D-don't hurt 'im! I'll do what'ere ya need! Bandit #1 runs around in panic screaming horribly, and rolls across the snow, mostly extinguishing the flame––however, he fails to get back up--as he dies, his life extinguished more thoroughly than the fire. SHAWN Drop the weapon. Bandit #3 drops his sword and kicks it away. Then, Rookie chases him and bites at his leg, knocking him to the floor. SHAWN (CONT'D) Good boy, Rookie! Shawn finishes Bandit #2, stabbing him with his staff, spurting blood onto the surrounding snow, and casts toward the fallen Bandit #3––killing him and setting the forest aflame. Rookie comes back, and Shawn pets him before they hop onto the wagon, and ride away––the forest burning behind him. SHAWN (CONT'D) Let's get out of here. Shawn whips the horses, and they speed forward into the forest, disappearing into the fog. The mountains stretch behind them, and the snow begins to fall, and he rides toward the song. ROOKIE (O.S) (Barking) Arf! Arf! END OF TEASER 4. START OF INTRO SEGMENT (Animated) EXT. MOUNTAINS - DAY NARRATOR (V.O) Knights are the rulers of towns. Together, they form factions–– organized in varying fashion. However, all factions have a high knight, who leads the faction. While she speaks the above, the camera scrolls over a map of a village, with a Rookie helmet atop one of the larger building, denoting the city hall. NARRATOR (V.O) (CONT'D) Most factions have a meeting place, and not all knights lead villages. In other, words, all factions are different. Most factions recruit factionless Knights, or train Knights from children. While she speaks the above, the camera scrolls over a map of a faction headquarters, with different knight helemets over different buildings, with the one in the center being denoted with a crown––to represent the high Rookie. Finally, it cuts to a bunch of knights in front of the head knight building, a few waving at the audience. Suddenly, CUT TO: A BURNING FACTION HEADQUARTERS - NIGHT (Live-Action) In the same place, with the knights in the same positions (but not waving), the Knights are injured, and in the Dusk faction headquarters, with their banners burning. The Dark faction charges through the faction on horseback, and Jon is leading them. Screaming is heard, but we quickly reach the END OF INTRO SEGMENT 5. ACT 1 EXT. A TOWN SQUARE - DAY LENORA (Female with shining white armor) stands on a podium, in front of a small crowd. Shawn walks in, and Lenora looks down on him. LENORA You! Who are you?! SHAWN Well, your honor, I'm Grimshaw, but everyone calls me Shawn. LENORA Guards, seize him! I want a background check. Make sure he's not a spy for the Dark Alliance. The guards grab Shawn, who raises his hands and goes with them, without a fight. Rookie barks, and the guards take him too. While the guards slowly lead him to the holding cell, while he says that SHAWN (V.O) The Knights are the leaders of the towns, and defying them would mean angering their faction. With the already dangerous streets, that isn't an option. I'll have to wait until they finish interrogating me. An INTERROGATOR comes, and Shawn is shut in the room with him. A guard stands near the door, silently, as the sound of Rookie whimpering fades away. JOSH Name and faction, please. SHAWN I'm Shawn, of the Dusk. I'm a member of the Dusk Watch faction. JOSH Okay. What brings you to the town? SHAWN I have a shoulder wound, and I fear infection. It's possible the weapon that inflicted it was rusty. 6. JOSH We'll let you into town under supervision. Apologies for the inconvenience. Jon's squadron of the Dark Faction has been harassing the village lately. SHAWN Thank you. The guard moves to the left, letting Shawn pass through the door. He walks out, and is met by Lenora. JOSH Mrs. Lenora Bright, the man is not working under Jon. LENORA Sir, I see you've been let out? Apologies for earlier . . . I hope you enjoy your stay here. What brings you hear, may I ask? SHAWN Isn't that what I told him a minute ago? I'm looking for a healer. JOSH He's got a nasty wound on his shoulder. LENORA Well, come with me. I'll take you to the healer. Rookie is let go, and runs up to join them. EXT. THE VILLAGE/MARKET – DAY Lenora is taking Shawn through the village, when they enter the market. Inside, there are farmers, bakers, and butchers, Selling their wares. However, many stalls are empty and others are running low. The price tags are crossed out, and have new, much higher, price tags next to them. Rook is walking next to them, when Shawn says SHAWN Siege? LENORA Not exactly. I'd still tell you to be careful outside the walls. 7. The reach a building built on the village wall, and walk inside with Rookie. INT. THE INN - EVENING The room is filled with tables and people and waiters scattered about, with signs and a staircase of to the right. There are two counters, one marked with a bed symbol and the other marked with a symbol resembling a loaf of bread. Lenora leads him to the desk marked with a bed, and the CLERK politely says CLERK Hello there. What can I do for you today? LENORA This man needs healing. Can you direct him to the healer? The Clerk nods, and Lenora walks out. CLERK The healer is on the third floor. Go up the stairs, four flights, turn left and go to the end of the hallway. Have a fantastic day, and I'll take the dog the kennel just outside. The Clerk obliges, and Shawn goes over to the stairs––walking up three flights before half-falling. He groans in pain as his ears start ringing, and his head hurts. Flashes of a burning building appear for a split second each, but Shawn brings himself to stand up, and holds his head for a moment before continuing. He reaches the third floor, and turns left––going down the hallway and passing a few rooms, before he reaches the healers office, marked appropriately with a four-leafed clover. He enters the room, and HENRY welcomes him in. HENRY Hello there. I'm Henry, an arcane researcher and surgeon. What can I do for you? Shawn silently shows his bandaged shoulder, before saying 8. SHAWN I was attacked. Stabbed in the shoulder with a rusty weapon. I bandaged it up as best I could, but it's been sore, and wasting my core energy. Henry nods, and gestures him to lie down on the hospital bed. Shawn does so, and Henry says HENRY What in Hades' darkest depths is this Helios cattle-waste! Prepare yourself. This'll not be easy, though you won't be to rest yet if I can help it. SHAWN Field of the army. 'tis not for me-–I'd rather fight yet––and take my stay in the Hall of the slain. But what the Valkyries will be done. HENRY Aye. Henry stands over him with a scalpel and stitches. HENRY (CONT'D) This is a procedure I learned during my stay in a land far south of here, through the feeding grounds and over the ocean. We call it "Sutures," and they will hold your arm together. As for the infection, I will thoroughly disinfect before the procedure. He begins to disinfect, and then prepares to apply the stitches. Then, off-screen, Shawn screams and is given sutures. INT. THE INN - EARLY MORNING Shawn wakes up in a comfortable bed, and heads out of his small room with Rookie. He goes to the "bed" desk and pays with a small pouch of silver. Then, walking over to the "bread" desk, he sets a pouch on the desk and then CLERK #2 says: 9. CLERK #2 What can I get you today? SHAWN A glass of wine and a medium salad. The Clerk #2 counts the coins quickly, and then says CLERK #2 Looks good! Have a good morning, and here's you number. We'll have your food in a moment. He walks away with Rookie. EXT. THE CITY - DAY Shawn walks out of the Inn, and toward the city gate, when suddenly, there's a loud roar. Buildings catch aflame, and armored raiders rampage through the city. Shawn looks for the now Rookie, but Lenora interrupts his search. ROOKIE Arf! Arf! Shawn runs to the nearby Rookie, looking towards Lenora. LENORA They've come past the wall! Guards, move out! It's Jon. . . SHAWN Of the The Night Watch? LENORA Yes–– how do you know? END OF ACT 1 10. START OF ACT 2 EXT. THE CITY - DAY SHAWN I may have met them before. . . INT. A DARK TENT - DAY JON stands in the center of the room, with a table in front of him. A PRIEST sits a baby atop the table. PRIEST Let us begin the ritual. For life everlasting! JON Yes, indeed! For both of us, everlasting life. Jon raises a sword, and stabs the baby (off-screen). He takes the child's core in his hand, and pushes it into his stomach––darkness briefly covering his body. PRIEST Now, for mine. Where is the child? Jon looks toward him, and grins, before stabbing him in the chest. EXT. THE BURNING VILLAGE - DAY The guards and the raiders clash swords, forming an almost straight line. The raiders set flame to the town, but are overwhelmed. The bodies of the guards and the skeletons lie strewn across the battlefield, blood staining the snow. INT. THE BURNING BUILDING - DUSK Lenora is panicking, yelling at Josh. LENORA (Exhausted) Josh! It's not okay––I failed them all. I'm not going to cower in here anymore. 11. JOSH (Angrily) Lenora, what use is another fallen soldier if the battle is still lost? Lenora ignores him, and charges into battle. A few guards get up, but another wave of skeletons comes through. They charge, breaking through the guards' line, when Jon comes out atop his horse, bloodstained. Draped across his horse, Jon has a dark purple banner with a black crest. JON I am your new knight! I am Jon, of the Night Watch Faction! Bring me the ex-knight! Lenora runs for two soldiers, slashing them in the chest with one swing of her sword. Then, she rolls forward into another, wrestling them to the ground and beating them by the head. Another soldier swings at the floor, and she rolls to the left, springing to her feet. JOSH Lenora! Where are you? Josh eyes Lenora, and produces a dagger. A soldier raises his sword over Lenora, but Josh stabs him in the side. Lenora collapses, and faints on the ground. Josh takes her to the Inn––which is now fortified with barricades and crude boards. He lifts up her body, and somebody watching the window pulls her up and into the building. JOSH (CONT'D) Get her to Henry! The person nods, and runs into the building with Lenora, somebody else taking watch. He turns around, to see a few soldiers running his way. He holds his dagger like he's ready to fight, but one of the soldiers fires a crossbow toward him. He pauses. JOSH (CONT'D) Oh boy. He makes a beeline from the building, careful not to stray into the center of town. The other soldiers get distracted, but one keeps chasing him. He trips in the snow, and the soldier catches up. Josh gets up to his feet in a hurry, and prepares himself, blocking the soldier's sword. 12. Another block, and the soldier's sword is knocked to the side. Josh stabs him through the chest. EXT. ELSEWHERE IN THE TOWN - DUSK Shawn pulls his staff out of two straps on his cloak. SHAWN Knew this'd come in handy. . . Shawn runs toward a group of soldiers and is surrounded, when he raises his staff and screams. Energy is shooting in every direction, and he's glowing brilliantly. Enemies fall around him, and a few catch aflame. SHAWN (ONSCREEN V.O) (CONT'D) I'm not going to leave this place until I figure out the dark alliance. Shawn runs to the inn, and sees Henry at the window. HENRY You again? Shawn– Right? SHAWN There's no time for pleasantries. You can't hole up in here forever. I have a very nice wagon, if you can set up shop in there. Either way, you can't wait for the soldiers to go through the rest of the town. HENRY Why should I trust you? Lenora comes to the window, and lets down a rope. LENORA I trust you. HENRY Why? Shawn begins climbing the rope, as a soldier charges after him. LENORA Josh trusts him, and Josh is the smartest person I know. 13. HENRY I can't promise you he'll come back. LENORA I can. They pull up the rope, and the soldier stops in his tracks. Seeing other targets, he leaves. EXT. BACK WITH JOSH - TWILIGHT Josh runs into an alleyway, and goes to a spot on the wall. There is a small hole with a rectangular indent, and he places a strange wooden object of the same shape, attacked to a stick inside. He turns it round, and pulls the wall open like a door, slipping inside unnoticed. He creeps through the narrow, dark, damp wall until he reaches a similar hidden door, and enters––finding himself in the Inn. He hurries up to the second floor, where he finds Shawn, an injured Lenora, and Henry lifting items down a rope and outside of the wall. JOSH What's going on? SHAWN (Simultaneously) We're getting out of here. LENORA (Simultaneously) We're saving this city. HENRY (Simultaneously) We're protecting lives. Josh joins in, and the send a few people down. HENRY (CONT'D) How are we all going to fit in a single wagon? JOSH I have a wagon outside of town. It used to be Lenora's, but she doesn't leave– Lenora rolls her eyes. 14. SHAWN We don't have time to here the glorious history of your wagon. Tell us on the road. LENORA He's right. Henry, the sick/injured, and myself will go with Shawn––while the rest will go with you. JOSH Sounds like a plan. Where are going to meet up? LENORA My faction has another town north of here, called Glacierveil. We should head there. Plus, there's no feeding grounds or mountain ranges in our way. SHAWN We'll rendezvous beyond the Grim Fjord, and past the Dusk Watch camp, at the foot of a mountain near the town. The all rush through the field outside of the wall, carrying as many supplies as possible. EXT. THE OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN Everybody is together near a stables, with horses dotted about in pens. Two wagons are parked near a shed, and everybody files into them. LENORA Farewell Josh––I'll see you at journey's end. JOSH I'll see you then too! SHAWN Here's the map. I know the way well. LENORA How? SHAWN Wandering 'll do that to ya. 15. Shawn gives Josh the map, and Henry has turned the back of Shawn's wagon into a mini-hospital with Henry, Lenora, and two patients. Josh's, much grander, trailing, wagon has about twenty people in it, all filing in. INT. A DARK WAGON WITH A MAKESHIFT HOSPITAL LENORA Let's go. SHAWN My wagon. It'd be wise to head out. Shawn walks into the wagon, which has it's banner on the side instead of on top. LENORA Thank you for saving me. SHAWN I'm obliged. You were hospitable to me, so it's the least I can do to return the favor. LENORA I hate to ask, but by the faction code, I'm no longer a knight––I have nowhere to go. SHAWN You are an apprentice then. I, Knight Shawn of the Dusk Watch, induct you into the apprenticeship of the Grim faction. EXT. THE BURNT VILLAGE - NIGHT The remaining guards seize Jon, and rush him to the courtroom. The army, oblivious, goes outside of town to siege and celebrate. INT. THE COURTROOM - NIGHT A JUDGE stands at the podium, and Jon is pulled in. The CROWD watches, and the DEFENSE walks up, while the OFFENSE takes the stand. 16. JUDGE Let us begin this emergency case. Offense, what do you charge Jon of Dark faction with? OFFENSE Jon of Dark has commenced a revolution, participated in arson, supported murders, and attacked people in the town. The Defense swaps places with the offense, and the crowd is silent. DEFENSE Objection! The offense firstly claimed that Jon began the revolution, though he joined after the fact. Moreover, he claimed that he participated in arson and supported murder, though he did neither thing. JUDGE Heard. Any objections? Then I the judge charge Jon throne with conspiracy to commit revolution, conspiracy to commit arson, and conspiracy to commit murders to the first degree. I sentence him the maximum sentence, of death. This hearing is over. Jon was led to the noose, but only silently grinned. The EXECUTIONER stood by and then asked. EXECUTIONER Jon, of Night Watch. Do you have any objections or last words? JON Hah. Just kill me already–– The Executioner kicks the bench from under Jon, and he falls on the noose. He begins choking, and struggling, but within moments falls silent. Then, darkness spreads from his neck across the noose. Then, the darkness continues and cuts the rope. Many fall dead, and the army rushes in, slaughtering the villagers and taking back their leader. END OF ACT 2 17. START OF ACT 3 EXT. A SHADY, SNOWY, FJORD - NIGHT SHAWN We're here. Let's get out. Here boy, Rookie! Lenora jumps out of the wagon, and excitedly comes over to Shawn. LENORA So, you're a high knight? I'm grateful to you. I suppose I should tell you my name, master Shawn. I am . . . Lenora. SHAWN Just call me Shawn. Looks like we're here. This place is just how I left it. . . fifteen years fly by, you know. Nearby, there's a destroyed complex with black banners decorated with white skulls scattered around. On the central building, there is a large dark purple banner, with the crest of the Dark Alliance. They walk through the complex, and there are decayed bodies dotted about. LENORA This is terrible. What happened here? SHAWN The Night Watch. They stormed us while I was just an apprentice. No survivors, except me. We see flashes of the burning scene from the end of the intro, and Shawn's face fades it back in. Lenora stares at him silently. They continue walking through the ruined, charred, land. EXT. A DARK SNOWY FOREST - NIGHT Jon & his army are hiking through the forest, flying the Night Watch banner. Inside his wagon, there is also a Dusk Watch banner, implying his part in it's destruction. They arrive at a stables, and notice Shawn's wagon being gone. 18. JON That wagon, where did it go? ARMY-MAN #1 I believe it belonged to a prisoner. ARMY-MAN #2 No, the Knight used it as a getaway. It had a black banner with a white skull, and red paint splattered on it. JON The Dusk Watch is still operational? EXT. A FLASHBACK TO A NON-DESTROYED DUSK WATCH CAMP - DAY ARMY-MAN #1 (V.O) That's impossible! You destroyed them five years ago. I know, I got promoted for stabbing that trainer and chasing off his trainee! Army-Man #1 stabs PETER, and YOUNG SHAWN runs off. PETER Run! Run Shawn, run! YOUNG SHAWN No! Peter! Young Shawn draws his sword, and runs back, trying to attack Army-Man #1, but crosses swords with him. They cross swords again and again, until Young Shawn is pushed to the edge of a river. He stabs Army-Man in the side, causing him to groan in pain. Taking the opportunity, Young Shawn swings again at Army-Man #1, but is blocked again––falling into the river. He floats away in the rushing tide, and Army-Man #1 turns back. EXT. BACK IN THE BRIGHT, SNOWY FOREST - DAWN JON Interesting. I believe we have a visit to make. To the Dusk Fjord, good men! ARMY-MAN #1 I do wonder about the kid though. Should've finished him when I had the chance. 19. JON Off to you. To me, speak only of important matters! Jon shakes his head, and Army-Man #1 bows apologetically, walking away slowly and respectfully––careful not to anger Jon further. EXT. A SHADY, SNOWY, FJORD - DAY Shawn and Lenora are setting up camp, and Lenora & Shawn go into their tents to change. Lenora (Late 20s / Early 30s, red hair, blue/green eyes) comes out, and then Shawn comes out. Shawn takes a pot of beans out, and places it on a wooden stand above the fire. As they sit around the fire, Shawn takes some items from the camp and places them in his wagon. A Dusk Watch, a Night Watch banner, a trophy reading "Shawn, Trainee," a High Knight's tome of insight, and a trainee sword. Henry's tent sits quietly in the distance, with a faint light coming from it. SHAWN Done packing. I'm exhausted . . . LENORA I am in great debt to you, master Shawn. SHAWN I told you to stop it with the "master" thing. LENORA I apologize, Shawn. Shawn goes in to check on Henry, and finds him writing with a small stick with a metal bit attached to it. The book he's writing on is worn, and he's drawing a strange symbol. SHAWN You're a mage too? HENRY Of course! That's how you see into a patients body––just apply some arcane energy. Any good doctor does it. SHAWN I don't know. I got hurt a lot as a kid, so you'd think I'd notice. Never paid attention though. 20. HENRY Ah, you were a fighter––eh? Knew kids like that. SHAWN Not really. Just a bad swordsman. Kept nickin' myself on the knee & arm. Henry chuckles, and Shawn joins in––careful not to wake the sleeping patients across the tent. INT. JON'S CAMP - NIGHT JON We should arrive tomorrow. Here, we will bury our priest, and avenge his tragic death. The priests body is lowered into a hole, and Jon has a look of disingenuous penitence. Then, in a nearby guillotine, there's a SOLDIER we didn't see yet. SOLDIER (Fading in) Please! I didn't kill him, I promise! I did nothing wrong! I just want to go home. . . Please! The EXECUTIONER walks to the guillotine. EXECUTIONER (Gruffly) Last words? SOLDIER Please! I'm begging you! PLEASE! I don't wanna–– p-plea–– The executioner pulls out the wooden stop, dropping the sharp metal on to his head. The head rolls across the snow, and cerebrospinal fluid pours from his (obscured) fallen head and cracked skull (little blood visible). JON Vengeance is served, for our great priest! CROWD Yes! 21. ACT 4 EXT. THE CAMP - DAY Henry, Shawn, and Lenora all have tents set up. Henry's tent is the biggest, but everyone inside seems to be sleeping. Shawn gets out of his tent, and Lenora is nowhere to be found. He calls out, SHAWN Lenora! Henry! Lenora jogs back from the camp. As she arrives, however, the Night Watch begins to arrive on the horizon. Quickly, Shawn grabs his staff, and along with Henry & the patients, hops into his wagon, riding towards Lenora. SHAWN (CONT'D) Get in! They're back again! Lenora scrambles into the wagon, and then Shawn rides off. LENORA Should we surrender? SHAWN They don't take prisoners. EXT. THE NIGHT WATCH - DAY The alliance is setting up camp. Jon dismounts, when a SOLDIER comes to him. The soldier points toward the fleeing Grim faction, and Jon looks down at him. JON Who are they? SOLDIER I'm not sure. Should we send scouts? JON Do we have a detailed visual? SOLDIER The guy who spotted them said the banner was black with a white shape on it, similar to the one we saw earlier. 22. JON (Shouting) Everybody! There is a one-hundred thousand silver bounty on any surviving Grim Faction members! Dead or alive! A group of soldiers begin arming themselves and preparing to set out. EXT. THE WAGON, NEARING THE EDGE OF THE FJORD - DAY They're riding the wagon, and Lenora sees the riders on horseback. LENORA Why don't you use your magic? SHAWN My blood is running low. LENORA Your blood? What? SHAWN You've never dealt with the Arcane before, have you? Your blood carries the energy needed to cast from your core to the staff. When you use your magic, it can take over a week to get your blood filled again. Ain't it tough. LENORA You're saying you don't have any left? SHAWN Not enough. LENORA Josh will likely have to wait on us. SHAWN Unfortunate. We'd better deal with this then. HENRY We're out of there now! The riders begin to fire arrows, but the wagon goes over the peak edge of the Fjord. 23. HENRY (CONT'D) HELIOS CATTLE WASTE! What Thor handle gorey valky–– LENORA They're coming! SHAWN I'm goin' as fast as I can! The soldiers remain persistent and follow on horseback, shooting arrows at the wagon. One wedges in the side of the wheel, and the wagon flips onto its side. Henry's patients scream, as they are caught under the wagon. SHAWN (CONT'D) Henry, are you good? HENRY (Muffled) We're fine! Lenora is caught in the tumble, but Shawn manages to escape the wagon and readies his staff. The Lenora climbs out and draws her sword, as the soldiers approach. She cuts two across the stomach, bursting arteries and causing rapid blood loss, causing them to fall to their knees, and momentarily–– the floor. LENORA There's more! In the back! Three more soldiers charge in, while two fire arrows from the back. Mage stabs one charging soldier in the neck, kicking him onto the ground. SHAWN Hold 'em off for a bit! LENORA I'm trying! The soldiers begin to overpower Lenora, who blocks some hits with her shield but takes some hits to her armor. LENORA (CONT'D) Now! Shawn knocks the arrow-men off their horses, and stabs one into the ground. The other attempts to get up, but their leg is broken by a rock, and they pass out and die from blood loss. 24. SHAWN I'm coming! Lenora parries one of the soldiers, stabbing him through the shoulder and turning to block the other. Shawn finishes the final soldier from the back with his magic, but falls to the floor. LENORA Shawn! SHAWN!! EXT. SHAWN AND LENORA'S CAMP - DUSK Shawn wakes up in his tent. END OF ACT 4 25. TAG EXT. THE NIGHT WATCH CAMP PETER (from Shawn's flashback––but the audience can't tell) is wearing a black cape and black suit, with slick bands holding it to his body and red accents. We can't see his face. He walks into the camp, and sneaks up on a soldier. Pulling out a sword, he puts it to the soldiers neck, and whispers. PETER (Whisper) Scream fire. Loud. The soldier obliges, and Peter slits his throat. Then, he lights a match––throwing it on a nearby tent. In the commotion, two soliders are patrolling––investigating the cause. Peter walks up, and pulls one away into the darkness. The OTHER SOLDIER walks forward––and then looks for Peter's victim. OTHER SOLDIER Hey, where are you? Peter walks up behind him, raises his knife and . . . THE END
