This pro- ject was carried out in two phases. In the evening of 23 rd of December 2018, the open stage at Diyatha Uyana, Bat- taramulla looked festive with the multi col- ored lights shining brightly and with the or- naments portraying the nativity scene from aside that was shadowed by a Christmas tree decorated with many tinsels and Christmas bulbs of varying colors. The choristers of Tehillah choir clad in red ready to sing their hearts out. Leos of dif- ferent religions sang a set of carols depict- ing the harmony in melodic notes and also their hearts out. The loud cheer from the audience that consisted of fellow Leos, fam- ily members, friends and visitors at Diyatha Uyana was remarkably amazing. With the distribution of gifts and candy to the kids in the audience by the Santa Clause, the joyful evening was drawn to an end con- cluding the success of phase 1 of Tehillah. Songs From Our Heart The 2 nd phase of Tehillah was carried out on the Christmas day, the 25 th of Decem- ber at the Apeksha Hospital at Maha- ragama. The choir along with the orchestra visited the patients ward spreading the joy of Christmas. The choristers sang carols and even danced with the patients with the hope of becoming a ray of hope to them. It is truly heartwarming to see how the pa- tients sing along with the choir while clap- ping despite of their fatal conditions. As Christmas is all about doing a little some- thing extra for someone, the Leos didn’t forget to make donations for certain medi- cal treatments stated by the hospital staff. That memorable day ended with love and hope. Ally 05 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER LEO DISTRICT 306 A2 ISSUE 03 LEO CLUB OF KALUBOWILA O n the 24 th of November 2018, we, the Leo club of Kalubow- ila together with the Leo club of Katu- wawala and the Leo club of Saegis cam- pus, with the guidance of the Lions club of Kalubowila, joined together to donate study material and dry rations to a less fortunate school, Waikumbura Tamil School, Badalkumbura, Monaragala. The donations were gathered from many oth- er clubs and non-Leos and Lions who were more than willing to help this wor- thy cause. Members of Our club, club of Katuwawala and club of Saegis campus and members of other clubs travelled to Monaragala, to make these donations to the school. We were welcomed by a tradi- tional ceremony and few items were per- formed by the students of that school, followed by the gifts and dry rations be- ing gifted to the students. The little ones were overjoyed, with the gift that they re- ceived, the smile on their faces, spoke a deep message that words cannot explain. We were also able to celebrate our 18 th anniversary of the club with the stu- dents and teachers of that school. After a day well spent with these de- serving hearts, we headed back to Colombo. This also gave a chance to gain a lot of memories, experiences and a time to increase the fellowship between the members. Ally 06 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER LEO DISTRICT 306 A2 ISSUE 03 LEO CLUB OF KALUBOWILA W e initiated a Christmas campaign via email and social media, to pass the true message of Christmas to all the Leos Lions and many others. It began on Christmas Eve, starting with the news to Mother Mary of the birth of baby Jesus to Christmas day which included the birth of Jesus Christ. It was a great success, since we were able to let many who did not know the true meaning of Christmas understand the story and let everyone know Christmas is not just lights Christmas trees and Santa Clause, but it has a deeper meaning related to the day of ‘Christmas’. Ally 15 THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER LEO DISTRICT 306 A2 ISSUE 03 Researchers have found that having strong social con- nections are important for both happiness and meaning- fulness. However, helping others in need and identifying oneself as a “giver”in relationships were related to mean- ing alone. The idea that helping others is a part of a meaningful life that has been around for thousands of years. A ristotle wrote that finding happiness and fulfillment is achieved “by loving rather than being loved”. According to the psychologist Carol Ryff, who reviewed the writings of numerous philosophers throughout history, relationships with others are “ a cen- tral feature of a positive, well-lived life ”. At present many of us seem to be strug- gling to find meaning by gathering up achievements, spending so much time at work that we’re cut off from other people. There are more evidence that kind and helpful behavior causes us to feel that our lives are meaningful, and discovering what we can do to reap those benefits. So, as human beings let’s spread our love and kindness through helping others and feel the true feeling of happiness. If you are seeking for the peaceful mind just help others and see the difference in you. HELP OTHERS, SPREAD LOVE & BE HAPPY...
