As part of the partnership between BFC we donated to Barnsley Foodbank Proceeds from Redfearn’s Bar/FanZone contributing to kits • Prior to lockdown, we had a waiting list of 50 groups lined up match day stadium tours, flag bearing/guard of honour, kids’ zone access , and use of the training facilities • During lockdown we created virtual flag bearers, visiting homes of Junior Tykes and showing films on Twitter/Screens before KO • During one non - lockdown window we managed to arrange stadium tours for junior supporters • Post lockdown, the Toby Tykes Club has re - opened and we’ve used Junior Tykes on the day for flag bearing duties • Live discussions with the club around 2022/23 plans • Regularly attending meetings with the Championship Group as part of the Football Supporters’ Association • Fan Behaviour Group – at a national level but also with Barnsley FC and other supporter groups • Contributed to meetings around midweek fixtures and long distance travel e.g. last night Arsenal away at Newcastle • Attended webinars on the Fan - Led Review including meetings with Tracey Crouch • Due to safety challenges at Oakwell the FanZone couldn’t reopen at the start of the 21/22 season • Official reopening date was 2 nd April vs. Reading, where we donated all profits from the game to the humanitarian effort in Ukraine (£1,000 ) • Four games last season: • Reading / £1,611 / 800 supporters • Blackpool / £511 / 300 supporter s • Peterborough / £1,227 / 700 supporters • Preston / £1,114 / 600 supporters • Current plans are to run the FanZone August – October and March – May with a Winter closure (TBC) • Thanks to other volunteers for their support; Derek Lindley, Gary Copley and Gary Crowcroft • Objective: be there for supporters during the first stay at home lockdown • 25 live interviews streamed to YouTube and Facebook, every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm • Guests included ; Mick McCarthy, Neil Redfearn, Ashley Ward, Paul Heckingbottom and Brian Howard • Barnsley FC supported with Jacob Brown, Michael Sollbauer and Conor Chaplin, and drove awareness through their website and Social Media • Thanks to Ian Parker (The Saturday Boy) for allowing us to use his photography for promoting on social media, and to all supporters/local media who came forward with contact details for guests • Total views exceeded 75,000 over a 16 week period Represented supporters at an online forum around the potential return of crowds post lockdown. We objected to the plans for the big clubs to create a breakaway European Super League. Worked with the club on the ticketing arrangements for the home leg of the Playoff Semi Finals Reserved two spaces for Trust Members to play at Oakwell in last week’s support competition. Immediate update on the Cryne Family taking legal action against the owners. Contacted the club but no response. BFCST spoke to the club regarding the threat of moving away from Oakwell. Told no realistic ambition to move on. Provided a detailed update on the reasons for the court case, the financial background on the takeover, and Oakwell future. Open letter published in Barnsley Chronicle. Response from CEO, Khaled El - Ahmad, was live on our website days later. 100+ questions. Nearly three hours of unedited and unscripted footage where every question from supporters was answered. Following the 3 - 0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, we urged all parts of the football club to come together; owners, players, supporters. Challenged the silence from Paul Conway and the owners after multiple requests. Launched Fans’ Feedback Survey. • Launched 3 rd May to BFCST Trust Members • Questions focused on attitudes to the ownership group, the 21/22 season, season tickets and the match day experience • Nearly 500 responses edited down to 450 with duplications/spam • Results are for total fan base not just BFCST member s • Snapshot on next slide. Full results will be published and sent to the club • Over 50% of supporters wanted the ownership group to admit mistakes and promise to learn from them • 46% of supporters wanted an ownership chang e • Less than 1% of supporters said the club maintained their suppor t • 65% of supporters were happy with season ticket pricing and options available to them • 32% of supporters claimed they wouldn’t be renewing as a boycott against the ownership group • Paul Conway, Chien Lee, Grace Hung and Dickson Lee were voted off the board with immediate effect • Julie Anne Quay (post EFL approval) and Jean Cryne will make up the new board of directors, including James Cryne, Neerav Parekh, Khaled El - Ahmad and Rob Zuk • Paul Conway and Chien Lee have no future involvement in the day to day running of the football club • Due to lines of communication being maintained with the current board of directors, BFCST strongly believes this is in the best interests of Barnsley FC • This isn’t a reaction to potential poor season ticket sales and has been worked on for c. 12 months BFC Investment Company LTD – 100% Chien Lee – 31.5% Neerav Parekh – 11% PMG – 27.5% Cryne Family – 20% Billy Beane – 10% In 2019 Neerav Parekh bought Billy Beane’s shares PMG is a company owned by Paul Conway and Grace Hung, at this stage representing their own shares plus those of other minority investors
