Issues covered: roads, pavements, social care, education, libraries, buses, hedges, etc Cllr Hazel Prior-Sankey Focus On Blackbrook and Holway From your District and County Councillor Hazel Prior-Sankey and District Councillor, Fran Smith Crossing and Barrier Completion Hazel is delighted that the crossing outside Blackbrook Pavillion is now fully operational. There had been some delay in getting the lights working due to Western Power being unwilling to do works until this year despite pressure from Hazel. They are now operational. The crossing was initially granted after a successful bid for a Small Improvement Scheme by Hazel resulting in the County Council installing the crossing on Blackbrook Way. With increasing members of the public wanting to use the swimming pool, Hazel felt it was essential that a crossing be installed to allow pedestrians and cyclists safe passage to the site. Hazel and Fran were also both pleased with the installation of the vehicle access barrier at the entrance to the pavilion towards the end of the summer last year. Residents had been complaining for some years about encampments but to no avail. With the Liberal Democrats having taken control of the Somerset West and Taunton Council in 2019, action has finally taken to help prevent this. New Benches Hazel is delighted two benches have been installed alongside the Blackbrook Stream after obtaining funds from the Taunton Unparished Fund. Please remember that benche, due to Covid restrictions, can only be used if you are out with your household group and not for meeting with friends.
