Women Win Wisconsin PAC With the future of our democracy and reproductive freedom under attack, Wisconsin State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski is launching an initiative to build on the power of pro-choice women at the state and federal levels. Overturning Roe v. Wade reinstated Wisconsin’s cruel abortion ban from 1849 that provides no exceptions for rape or incest and could jail or fine doctors — a dangerous shift in abortion policy that has activated women in record numbers. Since the Dobbs decision, new data has shown an unprecedented surge of voter registration among women across the country, especially in Wisconsin. Political experts are saying that women angered by the fall of Roe could change the electorate and give Democrats enough of an edge to prevent a red wave in the midterms. Women Win Wisconsin will work to convert the intensity and enthusiasm among pro-choice women into Democratic victories this November and beyond. In 2022, our efforts are focused on defeating U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, saving Governor Tony Evers’ veto, and supporting pro-choice Democratic women running in competitive state legislative races. By turning out pro-choice voters in competitive races up and down the ticket, we can make a lasting impact on the future of choice and access to health care for women. Women Against RoJo (WAR) Between now and Election Day, Women Against RoJo will work to defeat Ron Johnson by putting his anti-woman agenda directly in front of Wisconsin voters. When it comes to his extreme views on issues like reproductive freedom, childcare, equal pay, and more — voters won’t have to take our word for it. Here’s a non-exhaustive list straight from Ron Johnson: celebrated and took credit for overturning Roe v. Wade ; came out in favor of a national abortion ban; believes women are only useful to populate the planet; voted against equal pay for equal work; said it’s not society’s responsibility to take care of children; voted against reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act; wants to dump the childcare crisis on struggling moms; and thinks women who can't afford birth control should just "Google It." We have a U.S. Senator who finds it easier to harm women and families than to help them. Voters deserve to know the truth about his record, and we’re going to make sure they get it before November through strategic investments in digital advertising and targeted voter outreach efforts. Women Save the Veto Wisconsin Republicans only need one seat in the Senate and five seats in the Assembly to gain a legislative supermajority — giving them enough votes to override Governor Tony Evers’ veto and push through draconian laws infringing on Wisconsinites’ private health care decisions. Governor Evers vetoed nine extreme anti-abortion bills that passed the GOP-controlled legislature, and when he called for a special session to repeal the 1849 law, Republicans gaveled in and out in less than a minute. Women Save the Veto is backing pro-choice Democratic women running in six of the most competitive state legislative races in order to block a GOP supermajority, save the governor’s veto, and ensure we have more leaders fighting for reproductive freedom in Madison. These races are often decided by a few hundred votes. We believe the key to victory in each of these six districts will be turning out pro-choice voters and preventing down ballot drop-off. That’s why Women Save the Veto is working to arm endorsed candidates with the financial resources, strategic support, and infrastructure necessary to mobilize these voters and win.
