Registration and scheduling run through Google CertMetrics, either online-proctored from your own desk or at a testing centre. One number deserves a caveat. Google reports this exam as pass or fail and does not publish a cut score, so treat the roughly 70% figure quoted around the web as a working target rather than a published rule. Aim comfortably above it. What Changed in the Current Exam This exam has been revised more recently than most of the study material written about it, and the differences are big enough to waste your time if you miss them. Three things to check before you trust any resource. The case studies were replaced. The published exam guide now names four: Altostrat Media, Cymbal Retail, EHR Healthcare, KnightMotives Automotive. Only EHR Healthcare carries over from the earlier set - Mountkirk Games, TerramEarth and Helicopter Racing League no longer appear in Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Certification Guide GCP-PCA www.vmexam.com 3 the guide, even though they are still all over the practice questions in circulation, including several of the samples later in this guide. The architecture reasoning those questions test is unchanged; the company names are not what you will read on the day. The AI sections were renamed. Sections 2.4 and 2.5 are now written around the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform where earlier versions of the blueprint said Vertex AI, which is still the wording on VMExam’s syllabus page. The products behind the objectives are the same ones - pipelines, Model Garden, AI Hypercomputer - so read across the rename rather than hunting for new services. Generative AI is now load-bearing. Gemini Cloud Assist appears twice in the blueprint, Model Armor and secure model deployment sit inside the security section, and the renewal exam is built almost entirely around a generative-AI case study. This is no longer a corner of the syllabus you can skip. chaos engineering, penetration testing and load testing The Case Studies Are a Fifth of the Marks Two case studies appear in every sitting, drawn from the four in the exam guide, and questions about them account for 20-30% of the paper. You read them on a split screen while you answer, which sounds generous until you are two minutes a question and meeting a fictional company for the first time. Treat each one as a piece of homework rather than background reading. Pull out the stated business requirements, the technical requirements and the executive statement, then draw the architecture you would actually propose and write down why - which storage class, which compute product, where the trust boundary sits, what the migration order is. When the question comes, you are recognising a design you already argued through instead of building one under the clock. The four in play are Altostrat Media, Cymbal Retail, EHR Healthcare, KnightMotives Automotive. If a practice set puts you in front of a different company, it is written against the previous version of this exam. What This Credential Is Worth The Professional Cloud Architect has spent several years at or near the top of the highest-paying IT certification lists. Skillsoft’s IT skills and salary survey, quoted in Coursera's cloud architect salary guide, puts holders of this credential at an average of $190,204 - the sort of figure that reflects the seniority of the people who sit it as much as the certificate itself. Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect Certification Guide GCP-PCA www.vmexam.com 8 Cloud architect pay generally is quoted across a wide band because the title covers very different jobs: the same guide lists averages of $202,840 from Glassdoor, $147,236 from ZipRecruiter, $130,418 from Salary.com and $128,418 from PayScale, and settles on roughly $145,771 as a blended figure. Read the spread rather than any single number, and expect the top of it in the major tech hubs. What moves someone up that band is what this exam actually tests: not knowing which button creates a load balancer, but being able to defend a design in front of a business - the trade-offs, the cost model, the compliance boundary, the migration sequence. That is why the blueprint spends a whole section on business processes and stakeholder management, and why architects hold it rather than engineers. A Five-Step Route to the Seat Step 1 — Download the current exam guide, not last year’s The published guide carries the section weightings above and names the four case studies. It has been revised recently enough that a lot of the study material in circulation is out of date - check what you are reading against it before you trust a single objective. Step 2 — Work the four case studies properly Two of them appear in your exam and they carry 20-30% of the marks. Read each one, write out the business and technical requirements yourself, then sketch the architecture you would propose and the trade-offs behind it. You get a split screen in the exam, but reading a case study cold on the day costs you minutes you will not get back. Step 3 — Close the gap between reading and building Google recommends three years in industry with at least one of them designing and managing solutions on Google Cloud. If you have architecture experience but not on this platform, spend your lab time on the areas the blueprint names most often: VPC design and Shared VPC, IAM and the resource hierarchy, GKE against Cloud Run, and the observability stack. Step 4 — Rehearse at exam pace Fifty to sixty questions in a hundred and twenty minutes is about two minutes each, and the case study questions eat more than their share. Practise at that pace so the scenario items do not run down the clock on the questions you would otherwise get right. Step 5 — Book it, and diary the renewal Registration runs through Google CertMetrics, online-proctored or at a test centre, for USD 200. The credential lasts two years; the renewal is a shorter paper of twenty-five questions built almost entirely around a generative-AI case study, so it is worth knowing that is coming before you sit the first one. Two of them ask for more than one answer, and the real exam will not always flag that as clearly - read the stem before you read the options.
