Blade Desert NAV SIZ EXP ROU HOS MYS 15 16 18 15 14 18 Description A vast sea of sand stretching from the Endworld Mountains to the Talenta Plains, the Blade desert is the driest desert on the continent of Khorvaire with rains coming as seldom as once per millenium. The extreme ecology of the Blade desert has given rise to the common saying "And maybe it rains in the blade." meaning to convey that an event is so unlikely to happen as to be basically impossible. Despite the extremely adverse weather with temperatures reaching up to 80 degrees Celsius on the hottest days it is still teeming with various form of flora and fauna which has adapted to live in the harsh climate. Characteristics Potential Obsitcles Difficult Terrain. The blade dessert is notoriously difficult to traverse. Move at half speed. Sandslide. The sand of a masive dune is disturbed and starts sliding down in an avalanche. DEX save vs ROU to not be buried under the sand. A buried creature is restrained and can escape with a STR check vs ROU Sandstorms The blade dessert often suffers from sandstorms. For every three days spent in the Mirage. A mirage of a water rich oasis appears just beyond reach. WIS save vs dessert roll a d6. On a 5 or 6 a sandstorm begins for 8 hours. The area is Heavily ROU to disbelieve. Obscured during the sandstorm. Any creature that does not have shelter during the storm must make a CON save vs EXP every hour. On a failed save the character takes 1d10 of Slashing Damage. Unbearable Heat The heat of the Blade Desert is legendary, making travel during the day especially Massive Dune. This dune is uncommonly large and steep with the soft sand arduous. Characters traveling during the day must make a CON save vs EXP for making it difficult to proceed. Acrobatics vs ROU to climb. each 4 hours travelled. On a failed save they gain a level of Exhaustion. Notable Plants Food Blade Cactus The blade dessert is famous for its various species of Cacti. None more so than the Various edible species of cactus can be found as well as edible bugs, small extremely poisonous Blade Cactus. Any creature pricked by the cactus needs to mamals, snakes, lizards make a CON save vs HOS or take 2d6 of Poision damage and be Poisoned for the next 7 days. Ironwood Ironwood posseses the toughness and resilience to fire almost equal to steel. It is Water therefore highly prized for making weapons, armor and magical items. Bloodbush The bloodbush is so named due to the plant's sap resembling human blood in its Water is found in underground reservours or rare pools in the desert. color, texture and viscosity. The sap is highly toxic and any creature that comes in contact with it needs to make a CON save vs HOS or be Incapacitated for the next 8 hours as it experiences vivid halucinations. This is a poison effect. Notable Creatures Resources available Blade Snake The blade snake is not actuall named so for the desert, but rather because of the Adamantine; Ironwood shape of its head wich resembels a dagger blade. The snake tends to be almost irationally agressive towards any percieved threat and is highly dangerous due to its venom which can kill an adult human within seconds. DEX save vs HOS to avoid getting bitten. If bitten CON save vs HOS or 3d10 Necrotic Damage, half on save. Giant Scorpions These Giant arachnids are a common sight across the blade dessert especially Amenities during night time, posing a danger to the unwary travelers. Their meat has a fishlike taste and is a prized delicacy among some local tribes. Giant Vultures None Notable Locations Oasis of Spirits This lush oasis offers a respite from the grueling heat and dryness of the desert. But some say that the spirits of dead aquaintances come out from the water at night to torment any lingering travelers. Temple of the Forgotten It is not known who built this massive temple or when. It might even be as old as the dessert itself built under an ancient ocean by an unkown peoples. Who knows what treasures or secrets are buried within?
