After Round 5 the two highest ranked coaches will compete in the NAF Championship Final. The Round 1 matches will be randomly drawn. In subsequent rounds, players will be ranked by points total and paired off e.g. 1 st vs 2 nd , 3 rd vs 4 th , etc. Where players are tied on points they will be drawn against a random opponent who (where possible) has the same number of points. You will not be drawn against an opponent you have played in a previous round - the only exception to this rule is for the NAF Championship Final. Please note that individuals with access issues will have a designated set of tables to allow for maximum comfort. If your opponent is on one of these tables we will let you know ASAP after the round is drawn. After round 6 final standings will be separated by the following tiebreakers: 1. Opponent Score - the sum of all opponent’s tournament points, also known as strength of schedule. 2. Net Touchdowns + Net Casualties 3. Net Touchdowns 4. Net Casualties 5. Touchdowns Scored 6. Casualties Inflicted 7. Random The same calculation will be used to determine the NAF Championship Finalists should the leading players be tied on points after round 5. Registration ends at 09:45 on Saturday morning, please try to arrive well before that time to avoid large queues and delaying the start time. If you arrive after 09:45 you will likely delay the event for all players and may even entail you missing Round 1 of the tournament. Please note that this year pre registration of your team choice and roster is required. This is to speed up the process on the Saturday morning. See The Rules section for more info. There are 2 hours and 15 minutes allocated to each round. We ask that you play within this time, otherwise the tournament referees may need to stop games prematurely. This is particularly important on Sunday when we need to finish the event on time to allow people to travel home as planned. We ask that all players be prepared to use timed turns as required. Please consider downloading a chess clock application to your mobile phone or tablet, and listen carefully to the organisers who will give regular round time updates. If a game is running behind chess clocks are likely to be implemented by referees. If a round has one hour remaining and the match has not yet entered 2 nd half, players will be asked to use the “death clock” system for their remaining time, with each player allocated 30 minutes. Each player should start and stop their own 30-minute countdown during their turns only. This will also include any other parts when they are acting in a drive such as setting up for a kick-off. If either players’ time runs out they will only be allowed to do three actions: 1. Move their turn counter 2. Turn over stunned players 3. Stand up prone players. A referee will be on hand to support you with this as required. The vast majority of matches will not have to play under the above conditions, however, please be prepared to do so. If the NAF Championship Final ends in a tie, then overtime will be played to decide a winner. This might entail a slight delay in the schedule. Last published in November 2020 these rules are updated annually so you will be notificated of any changes in plenty of time. The event will also follow Games Workshop’s Designer’s Commentary May 2021 and Teams of Legend documents. Any publications released by Games Workshop before January 31st, 2022 (such as a new Spike! Magazine) are also eligible for use. Specific NAF Championship rules for roster building and points scoring are as follows: • Rosters are purchased with a treasury 1,150,000 gold crowns . All inducements listed in the Blood Bowl 2020 rulebook are permitted except Mercenaries, Special Play Cards, and Team Wizards. As per the 2020 rules in tournament games you do not receive the 1 free Dedicated Fans. Note that during the pre-match sequence no extra gold crowns are awarded for teams with a lower team value. • Inclusion of Star Players is limited to teams considered stunty teams . Therefore only Goblin, Halfling, Ogre and Snotling teams may take 0-1 Star Players , and only after rostering 11 regular players. Eligible Star Players are those in Blood Bowl: Second Season - The Official Rules and released in Spike! issue 11 onwards. If you are unsure if a Star Player is eligible please don’t hesitate to ask. • In addition to the starting skills on your roster all teams will have additional skills that they can add to their roster . Note that there is no tiering at this year’s NAF Championship. Each coach can choose 6 primary skills and 1 secondary skill to add to their roster. These skills are all allocated at the start of the tournament so they remain relevant for all 6 matches. The secondary skill can be swapped to a primary skill if you wish. Skills are allocated as “new skill” rolls specified as either “primary” or “secondary” as per the Improvement Rolls table. There is no restriction to skill duplication i.e. you may give several different players the same skill if you wish. You may only select one additional skill per player. Statistic improvements and random skills cannot be selected. • Pre registration is required at this years NAFC to speed up the registration process. Please finalise your rosters and submit them by email to thenafchampionship@gmail.com by April 16 th 2022 . This does not need to be a full team roster, but please be sure to include: your NAF name and number, all calculations for team cost, team race, and the additional skills selected. All coaches must still bring a copy of their team roster with them to the event, to be shared with your opponent during round 1 and made available to the event organisers or any other opponent upon request • If when playing a game it is discovered that one team has too many players on the pitch and the kick off procedure has taken place, please resolve as follows: - Immediately pause the game. - The Coach who has too many players must randomly select one of their players to be removed to the reserves box. Allocate numbers to each player, then roll a D16 and remove that player. Repeat this process until the correct number of players remain. - If the player was holding the ball immediately Bounce the ball. - If it was the turn of the coach who had too many players on the pitch and the player removed was the ball carrier, this causes a turnover. Tournament points After each round tournament points will be awarded as follows: • Win: 2 points • Draw: 1 point • Loss: 0 points When your game is complete you need to fill out a results slip. Please include your touchdowns and casualties and double-check the data, both coaches are responsible for the results slip. Only record casualties that would give Star Player Points, i.e. those casualties cause by fouls, crowd pushes, failed dodges, bombs, stabs, chainsaws etc. do not count. This year the “Best Painted Team” event returns once again. The competition will be judged by a small group of skilled people selected by the tournament organiser. During lunch on Saturday we will ask anyone who wants to be considered to leave their team out for display. The judges will then consider these teams during this lunch period and an announcement about the winner will be made during the awards ceremony on Sunday. The judges will be looking primarily to reward high- quality painting. Conversion work, presentation, and other “wow” factors will be strongly considered too, but consider this to be a painting competition first and foremost. You must be attending the event to be considered for best painted and teams (not coaches) that have won the award in the past will not be reconsidered. The NAFC Prize Team: Traditionally the prize team (beautifully sculpted and painted by Spubbbba) has always been awarded to the winner of the NAF Championship. However this year the prize team will be raffled to a random winner. By entering the tournament you are also buying your ticket to this raffle, the winner of which will be announced during the prize giving. And finally...
