Masks in BC Apartment Buildings: NOT REQUIRED Recently, the management of some apartment buildings have been claiming that masks are now required in common areas, by order of the BC provincial government. THIS IS FALSE. Reference to official government documents, freely available on the WWW, makes it clear that while masks are required in "indoor public spaces", the common areas of apartment buildings and condominiums are specifically exempt from this category, presumably because they are not public. On the BC government webpage below, notice the distinction between the places where masks are "required" (marked in red), versus where they are only "strongly recommended" (marked in green). BC Public Safety Order M425, on which this page is based, and which is available from it, in section 2-(2) has an extensive list of what should be considered "indoor public spaces". Apartment buildings and condominiums are not included. Anybody who claims otherwise is lying, which is a "false information" crime under section 372-(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada. "Strongly recommended" has no legal force, any more than "eat a healthy diet", or "get plenty of sleep". Whether or not to wear a mask in the common areas of your apartment building, is a question that you may decide for yourself. scientific information get a PDF copy check for yourself: about COVID-19: of this poster: gov.bc.ca/covid19 swprs.org/covid19-facts pdfhost.io/search? text=bc+masks
