Massiatte 2019-2021 ASC Lead Chair 24 BENEFICIARY ATTORNEYS SERVIN 24 G THE COMMUNITY 34TH ANNUAL LUNCHEON BENEFICIARY HOPE SUPPLY CO. MISSION The mission of Hope Supply Co. is to meet the critical needs of homeless and at-risk children across North Texas by providing necessities including diapers, clothing, school supplies, and toys to enhance their lives. THE PROBLEM 1 in 3 families experience diaper need. Babies without clean diapers are exposed to health risks including severe diaper rash and urinary tract infections, and are less likely accepted at daycares, leaving their parents unable to attend work or school. Simply speaking, diaper need is the lack of a sufficient supply of diapers to keep an infant or child clean, dry, and healthy. At Hope Supply Co., we believe that all children have a right to good health and hygiene, giving them a chance to thrive. As a community we must remember that their problems are our problems. WHAT WE DO Hope Supply Co. maintains two warehouses and procures, stores, and distributes critically needed items for our children including diapers, wipes, and hygiene kits. These items are distributed to over 80 partner agencies that align with our mission. 26 BENEFICIARY PARTNER TESTIMONIALS "One of our families who receives diapers and wipes from Hope Supply Co. reported that she is less stressed and can better manage her depression knowing that her daughter can remain clean, dry, and healthy." "A mother and domestic violence victim moved to Dallas and into a local shelter for safety, but essentials at the shelter had been exhausted. She was preparing to transition out and start a new job, but had no diaper supply which also meant she could not utilize daycare. Because of the support from Hope Supply Co., we were able to provide 3 months of diapers to sustain them as they transitioned. So grateful!" CALL TO VOLUNTEER We are proud of our efficient model which allows us to serve thousands of children and distribute millions of diapers each year with a full time staff of only six dedicated individuals. We rely on financial and volunteer support from the community in order to keep up with the growing demand for our services. Please visit our website to sign up to volunteer in our warehouse or to explore other ways to become involved in our vital work. Our volunteers see these words of wisdom come to life: "Give and you shall receive." The members of ASC first instituted the award in 2012 to recognize Baron & Budd, P.C. for the firm's generous and longstanding patronage of ASC and its beneficiaries. ASC is proud to present the 2019-2021 Friend of the Community Award to Judy Nordseth Photography. Judy Nordseth Photography is a full service portrait studio serving the North Dallas area for almost 30 years. They specialize in capturing the smiles of children, families, pets, and business executives, and also provide photography services at special events such as Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, weddings, company parties, and banquets. For more than twenty years, Judy Nordseth Photography has provided professional photography services for ASC events. Judy has donated her time and talent to capture countless ASC events over the years, and we are thankful to Judy for her unwavering support and commitment to ASC. Since its inception in 1987, ASC’s membership has grown to over 300 members in recent years. Each year, ASC selects as the beneficiary of its various fundraising activities a local nonprofit that serves women, children, or families. CHARITABLE IMPACT ASC’s annual luncheon, a perennial favorite of the local legal community, has featured nationally-known guest speakers, including such notables as former First Lady Laura Bush and Today Show correspondent Jenna Bush Hager; former First Lady, Senator, and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; psychologist and columnist Dr. Joyce Brothers; environmental activist Erin Brockovich; actresses Viola Davis, Kathy Najimy, and Jill Eikenberry; original Hamilton cast member Christopher Jackson; “Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts; author and screenwriter Antwone Fisher; and Dick Hoyt of “Team Hoyt.” Additionally, ASC’s fundraising activities include a fabulous sponsor reception and silent auction in April, a race each February, and several networking events. Over the past 33 years, ASC has raised nearly $5 million for local charities through these efforts. ASC is proud to honor Hope Supply Co. as its 34th beneficiary. NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES In addition to its philanthropic endeavors, part of ASC’s mission is to create and facilitate networking and business development opportunities for its members. Our membership is comprised of female lawyers in law firms and corporate legal departments of all sizes, law professors and law students, members of the judiciary, and lawyers who hold non-legal corporate and consulting positions. Whether you are in a corporate legal department, a large law firm, or your own firm, it’s not always what you know that will determine your professional trajectory—sometimes it’s who you know. We hope that you will get to know ASC!
