Tips on writing a blog post ● Write on well established topics and technologies. ● Start with a clear goal and focus on one main idea per post. ● Explain concepts simply, adding technical depth only where it matters. ● Use real examples and code snippets to make your content practical. ● Share your reasoning and learnings, not just the final solution. ● Edit for clarity and flow, keeping the writing clean and easy to follow. Tips for drafting a blog post ● Start with a rough outline to map your main idea and supporting points ● Write freely without editing so your ideas flow before polishing the content ● Focus on the core message and avoid adding unnecessary details early on ● Add placeholders for code, images, or examples and fill them in later ● Take a short break and review with fresh eyes to refine clarity, tone, and structure ● Save it as a draft until you are satisfied with your post. Publish when complete. Writing an About page ● Introduce yourself clearly – who you are, what you do, and your area of expertise ● Highlight your skills and projects without just listing them; show impact and experience ● Share your story and inspirations to connect personally with readers ● Keep it concise and readable – use short paragraphs, bullet points, or headings ● Include a call to action – invite readers to connect, follow, or check out your work ● Add Adobe Photoshop designed posters or images to your about me page ● Add a link to a special about me page with more of your work, keeping the primary about page concise Choosing a username Your username can be of any of the below styles. ● Your first name - @mohan ● Your first name and middle name - @mohans ● Your initials, for example @ms ● A fancy name like @PHPMan or @JavaMan ● Your username is your identity on blogging platforms ● Your username will appear beside your comments on others blog posts ● Additionally, a profile photo gives completeness to your blogging profile Promoting your article ● Share link to your article on facebook, twitter, instagram and other social platforms ● People can then comment on these social media platforms ● Gets more recognition for your article ● The article stays in one URL ● You can also add a comment yourself with links to the shared social media posts. – Lets people comment on the article itself, OR – Lets people comment on the social media platform of their choice Additional Tips ● A contact form link can be added to your portfolio using a Google Docs form. ● File attachments (PDFs) can be added to Google Drive and linked in your blog posts. ● Add images where necessary to your blog posts. ● Add posters as images where you choose to express your message. ● Microsoft Publisher / Microsoft Designer / LibreOffice Draw can be used to create graphics with text to enhance what you want to convey with images in your post. ● Canva is also a good resource. ● When there is an update to an existing blog post, feel free to edit the post and add the new section. ● Social Plugins Comments https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/comments/ Know ● Because you are writing a blog, don’t expect 1K readers initially – Readers come from many places like a google search or a link from social media ● Post 1 article per week on saturday early morning, so that your readers are accustomed to your timings. ● Don’t hesitate to copy from other blog posts and reword and post it. – For example what is php -S 127.0.0.1:8888 . So many devs write about the same. – Shy is not necessary, to copy.
