Is the tribulation of the D ī n in other than these, who if their source of food and position is safe, then there is no concern for what happens to the D ī n ? The best of them is the one that feigns and pretends to be sad. If however, a dispute arose with regards to something that is important to him in his rank or wealth he would most certainly spend out and expend and make strong effort in earnest and he would have utilized the three levels of censure according to his ability. [This is in reference to the had ī th of the Prophet ( sallall ā hu ‘alayhi wassallam ): “Whoever of you sees an evil then let him change it with his hand. If he is unable then with his tongue. If he is unable then with his heart and that is the weakest of Ī m ā n.” (Muslim)] For these, along with them being removed from closeness to All ā h and All ā h hating them, they have been afflicted in the world with most tremendous affliction that can be whilst they perceive not, and that is the death of the heart. The path of the Book, the Sunnah and the scholars of the Ummah opposes what this group has allowed of silence, turning away (from clarification) of this tremendous tribulation and (it opposes) the working of their tongues in disparagement and opposition towards the one who has ghayrah (strong honor and jealousy that leads one to action) for All ā h, His Book and His D ī n So let there be from you, O brother, a Shar ī ’ah path and well pleasing course in refuting what has been mentioned of misconceptions and uncovering the confusion and warning from the tribulation of the armies, as well as having sincerity for All ā h, His Book, His Messenger, the Im ā ms of the Muslims and their common folk. None (of this) is obtained by silence and going with the flow in any way. So therefore, seize the opportunity, speak abundantly about it, and seize the days of your life so that perhaps, All ā h might raise us up, both you and I, among the congregation of the armies of the Sunnah and the Qur’ ā n, and those who preceded us from the people of truthfulness and Ī m ā n .” [ ad-Durrar as-Saniyyah (8/372)] At-Tiby ā n Publications 3 Shaykh N ā sir al-Fahd T Th he e E Ex xp And my provision has been placed beneath the shade of my spear. Humiliation and lowliness has been place upon the one that opposes my command, and whoever imitates a people then he is from them.” 1 Whosoever All ā h guides, there is none that can misguide him. Whosoever All ā h misguides, then there is certainly no guide for him. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped as a deity in truth except All ā h the Most High, and I bear witness the Muhammad is His slave and Final Messenger. It has been over one year and seven months since the Crusaders, under the leadership of George W. Bush ( ‘alayhi la’ ā inull ā h ) began their renewed Crusader Onlaught against the Muslim Ummah. In the course of over one year, All ā h has blessed this Ummah by showing them the real enemies of the Muslims and the rabid nature of the Kuff ā r nations. Along with this, All ā h has bestowed His immense favor upon the Muslims in these times by decreeing events that add to their certainty that the true path that is worthy of following and sacrificing for is indeed the path of the Prophets. The Messenger of Allah ( sallall ā hu ‘alayhi wassallam ) said: “The most severely tested of the people are the Prophets, then those closest to them, then those closest to them.” 2 Without doubt, from the path of the Prophets is to establish the demarcating line between the allies of ar-Rahm ā n and the allies of ash-Shayt ā n . Allah ( ‘azza wa jall ) mentioned in the clearest of expressions that this is from the objectives of His Final Revelation. The Most High said: ِ الآيَا ت ﹸ ِّ ل ﹶص نف َ َكﹶذﹶ لِ ك و َ ُجْرﹺ مِ ين الﹾ م ﹸ سَبﹺيل َ وَلِتَسْتَبﹺ ين And thus do We detail the Ā y ā t, and [thus] the way of the criminals will become evident. 3 From the matters that All ā h has clarified is the prohibition against assisting the Kuff ā r against the Muslims and giving them aid, help, and victory against the Ummah – be it by hand, wealth, or opinion. Indeed, what kind of Isl ā m is it that allows, nay obligates and encourages its adherents to cooperate with the Crusaders in their war against the D ī n ? What kind of D ī n does a person have, who deems it a duty to report their Muslim brothers and sisters to the worshippers of the cross, be they Arab or non-Arab? What kind of D ī n does the person have, who considers it appropriate to actively work with the military or intelligence agencies 1 Had ī th Hasan , reported by Im ā m Ahmad in his Musnad on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar ( radiall ā hu ‘anhu ). 2 Sah ī h Muslim 3 S ū rah al-An’ ā m (6):55. The author of this wonderful book, Shaykh N ā sir al-Fahd – may All ā h protect him from the plots of the plotters and the envy of the envious – has done an excellent job in elucidating a very much neglected aspect of tawh ī d , especially in the English language, and that is the actualization of the Millah of Prophet Ibr ā h ī m ( ‘alayhis-sal ā m ) which is establishing the allegiance for the believers and disavowal towards the Kuff ā r . Due to its importance, we sought to translate this book for the benefit of the English-speaking brothers and sisters. Our Work on the Translation In this translation, we have chosen to leave the common Arabic words that form the Isl ā mic vocabulary of the English speaking Muslim. For example, we left the words Kuff ā r , D ī n , Shirk as they are, without using words such as; disbelievers, religion, and polytheism. With regards to the transliteration of Arabic words, we preferred to adhere to the most common transliteration symbols placed on the words as opposed to the use of double letters to reperesent long vowels. For instance, the word [ مسلمون ] will be transliterated as Muslim ū n and not ‘ Muslimoon ’. [ البخاري ] will be transliterated as al-Bukh ā r ī and not ‘al-Bukhaaree’ and so on. As for the translations of the Ā y ā t of the Qur’ ā n, we have not stuck to one particular translation. I have mostly used the translation of Dr. Muhsin Khan and the translation of Saheeh International with slight adaptations when called for. On certain occasions, we deemed it necessary to add explanatory footnotes to elucidate on the meanings of some of the Arabic words or to make important comments. All of my comments are marked with the symbol: [T] standing for ‘translator’. We ask All ā h the Most High to bless this effort, to grant us Ikhl ā s and truthfulness in all of our actions both small and great, to reward all who read this book, study it, distribute it, and we ask Him to accept from us our deeds. We would like to also specially thank those individuals who spent their time and effort in the translation, editing, and typesetting of this book. All praise is due to All ā h, and may Sal ā h and Sal ā m be upon the Messenger of Allah, to proceed: Know, my Muslim brother, that from the principles of the religion of Isl ā m is disbelieving in the T ā gh ū t , and this is half of tawh ī d ; its other half being belief in All ā h, as Allah the Most High says: َ َم ْ سَ ك اس ْ ت ِ فﹶقﹶ د ِ ﹼ ه بﹺالل وَيُؤْمِن ِ ﹸو ت َّ اغ بﹺالط ْ ﹸ ر يَكﹾف ْ فﹶ مَن َ ﹶ ى ُثﹾق الﹾ و ِ بﹺالﹾ عُر ْ وَة Whoever disbelieves in the T ā gh ū t and believes in All ā h, then he has held unto the firm hand hold. And we have sent in every people a Messenger saying worship All ā h and avoid the T ā gh ū t. 5 And from disbelief in the T ā gh ū t is: declaring (ones) disavowal from Kufr and its people, and hating them, and having enmity towards them, as Allah the Most High says: ﹲ ﹸسْوَة أ ْ ﹸ م لﹶك ْ كﹶان َ ت ْ قﹶ د َّ ا إﹺن ْ لِقﹶو ْ مِهﹺم ﹸوا قﹶال إﹺذﹾ ُ َه مَ ع َ َّ ذِين وَال َ إﹺب ْ رَاهِي م فِي ﹲ حَ سَ نَة ُ د مِن تَعْبُدُونﹶ َّ ا وَمِم ْ ﹸ م مِنك بُرَاء كﹶفﹶرْنَا ِ َّ ه الل ِ و ن وَبَدَا ْ ﹸ م بﹺك ِنُوا تُؤ ْ م َّ ى حَت أﹶبَدًا وَالﹾبَغ ْ ضَاء ﹸ الﹾعَدَاوَة ُ ﹸ م َبَيْنَك و بَيْنَنَا ُ وَح ْ دَ ه ِ َّ ه بﹺالل There has been a good example in Ibr ā h ī m and those who were with him, when they said to their people: “We are free from you and what you worship besides All ā h, we have disbelieved in you, and enmity and hatred has begun between us and you until you believe in All ā h alone.” 6 Shaykh ul-Isl ā m Ibn Taymiyyah ( rahimahull ā hu ta’ ā la ) said: “For All ā h has ordered us to follow in the way of Ibr ā h ī m and those who were with him, as they declared Bar ā ’ah (innocence, disavowal) from the Mushrik ū n and what they worship besides All ā h, and al- Khal ī l (Ibr ā h ī m) said: “I am free from what you worship, except the One who created me. Indeed He shall guide me,” and having Bar ā ’ah is opposite of allegiance, and the foundation of Bar ā ’ah is hatred, and the foundation of allegiance is love, and this is because the reality of tawh ī d is to not love except All ā h, and to love what All ā h loves, thus he doesn’t love except for All ā h, and does not hate except for All ā h.” 4 S ū rah al-Baqarah (2):256. 5 S ū rah an-Nahl (16):36. 6 S ū rah al-Mumtahinah (60):4. The Second Category: If he is unable to openly declare his religion, and is able to migrate to a land where he can openly declare his religion in it, then it becomes obligatory to do so. The Third Category: If he is unable to openly declare his religion, and is unable to migrate, then he is from the weak excused ones, but he must refrain from interacting with the Kuff ā r and mixing with them as much as possible. And, all this has detailing (elsewhere). For this reason, it is obligatory upon the Muslim residing in the abodes of the Kuff ā r to actualize the Millah of Ibr ā h ī m ( ‘alayhis-sal ā m ) by way of declaring Bar ā ’ah from the Kuff ā r and their religion, and to openly show them hatred and enmity, and I wish to make aware of two issues related to this matter: The First Issue: Actualizing the Millah of Ibr ā h ī m does not mean leaving calling the Kuff ā r to Isl ā m in a nice manner, for the Messenger ( sallall ā hu ‘alayhi wasallam ) was open to the Kuff ā r from his people in his declaration of their Kufr , and his enmity and hatred towards them, and this did not prevent him from calling them to Isl ā m by softness, mildness, and with the good reminder. And (in this matter) two people have fallen into wrong: 1. Those who see nothing except softness in calling people to Isl ā m, so he left openly showing enmity and hatred to the disbelieve
