By Ryan Lynch – Staff Writer, Orlando Business Journal Dec 28, 2021 Updated Dec 28, 2021, 4:12pm EST AdventHealth has revealed what it wants to do with The Holy Land Experience property it bought. The Altamonte Springs-based nonprofit health system has proposed building a 78,000-square- foot, four-story standalone emergency room and medical office in a first phase, with the second phase including a five-story, 261,500-square-foot "hospital use," showed project documents submitted to the city of Orlando. The project referred to as AdventHealth Millenia is set to be developed on 14.21 acres at the former Christian theme park, documents showed. AdventHealth's project is set to go before the city of Orlando's municipal planning board on Feb. 15. The project is requesting a conditional-use permit for a helipad at the site. Plans did not include how many hospital beds would be included in the project. “We are continuing with our planning process, and determining the level of care and types of services needed in the Millenia area of Orlando," AdventHealth Winter Garden CEO Kari Vargas said in an emailed response. "As with any project, we’re evaluating not just today’s needs, but the types of health care that will be needed as Orlando continues to grow. We look forward to sharing more details in the future." The existing 50,844-square-foot, three-story auditorium and one-story, 26,394-square-foot building on site would remain for now for "future potential use," according to the site plan. Enlarge The auditorium at the former Holy Land Experience site will remain on the site for now. Ryan Lynch/Orlando Business Journal The new AdventHealth development will rise in a part of Orlando that's long been underserved for health care, Terrence Hart, senior director of health care and retail for Franklin Street, who isn't involved in the deal, previously told Orlando Business Journal. The new health care development will allow AdventHealth to serve the thousands of residents who live nearby. "The MetroWest market is underserved, and this is the gateway to the market," Hart said. "So you're capturing a big piece of the pie." AdventHealth's first phase freestanding emergency department — which is expected to be on the first floor of the first-phase building — would join HCA Healthcare Inc.'s (NYSE: HCA) Millenia ER, which opened during 2019. Recommended Holy Land Experience Ministries Inc. — an entity related to Tustin, California-based theme park operator and landowner Trinity Broadcasting Network — on Aug. 2 sold the site at 4655 Vineland Road for $32 million to AdventHealth. At the time, AdventHealth had committed to redevelopment, but did not share specifics.
