Equipment for a 2 - 3 day summer hike *Disclaimer* I’m not a professional / experienced hiker. You should always do your own research on the specific hike you intend to do and pack accordingly i.e. there may be some essentials not listed here that you will need for your hike. I’ve added links where I can find them! - Large hiking pack - Tent - Sleeping bag - Self inflating mattress - Small pillow (if your mat doesn’t have a built-in pillow) - Gas cooker (stand) - Small gas canister - Matches or lighter - Pot(s) for cooking - Lightweight camping cups - Spork, sharp hunting knife - Camelback water pouch or; - Water bottles X2 big 1.5L (you should drink about 500ml every 30 mins of walking) - Food (freeze dried dinners, tuna & rice pockets, wraps, trail mix, gummy lollies, muesli bars, protein bars, packet oats, coffee, hot chocolate) - Toiletries - sunscreen, soap, face wash, face moisturiser, hairbrush, lip balm, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush. - First aid kit - band aids, insect repellent, itchy bite cream, blister pads (1x per day), hiking wool for blisters in between toes, heat blanket, pain killers, dehydration tablets - Water purification tablets - Wet wipes - Ear plugs - Large resealable plastic bags x4 to take all of your rubbish home with you - Walking clothes - 1x quick dry t shirt, 1x sports bra, 1x shorts (bike shorts or lightweight shorts), hiking boots, hiking socks 1x pair per day, rain coat, hat / cap - Jandals / sandals (light & waterproof) - Sunglasses - Togs / swimwear - Microfiber towel - Night clothes - comfortable t-shirt, track pants, polar fleece jumper - Underwear - 2x per day - Dry bags - Book - Playing cards / entertainment - Torch & spare batteries - Film camera & film - Small shoulder bag to keep camera / phone in if your shorts don’t have pockets - Portable charger and charging cords
