MANOS UNIDAS August 2014 South highlands of Peru. Our adventure involved outdoor dynamics that challenged our limits and gave us a travel experience that improved our development as individuals and as a team working together to fulfill a social service goal. For this program we worked with MANOS UNIDAS INTERNATIONAL Manos Unidas International, is a U.S. based federally recognized non-profit with 501c3 status and a Washington state charity. MUI's featured program, “Ayllu”, translated as “community” in the Quechua language, is a strategic program designed to create broad systematic change to the learning outcomes and community participation of children with disabilities across marginalized Latin communities in the United States, and across the Americas, through a proprietary cloud-based video curriculum and culturally tailored interventions. Promoter of the first and only private/non-for-profit school for Special Education in Cusco - Peru called "Centro de Educación Básica Especial Particular Camino Nuevo". This highlands project gave us the opportunity to spend time teaching music and expressive movement classes for children with different special needs and to help contribute to the improvement of the schools’ infrastructure.
