Reyes Membership meeting called to order: - Cdr. Reyes Officer Roll Call: – Adj. Stone All Present or accounted for Excused None Minutes of previous meetings: – Adj. Stone Cdr. Reyes: Recognized Harry Williams who served in the Army and Army National Guard. Is also a former financial advisor. 1st VC Gall Report: Helmit for heroes raised $50.00 for veterans in our area. There is also a raffle for next month for the ability to win a TV. Membership Report: NSTR 2 VC Candela Report: Candela spoke about his honor flight on the 21st. nd Finance Officer Monteton Report: Currently we have $15,300 in operating funds and $31,910 in savings and money Market. Service Officer Miranda Report: 145 veterans served last 5 years spending $4500. These funds were used to repair houses, purchase wheelchairs, spend on basic life necessities such as heating and assisted traveling veterans with last minute needs. Adjutant Report: Change the name of boy’s state to boys and girl’s state. Motioned by Stone and seconded by Harry Williams. All members present in favor of the name change approved to be sent to District. Discussed the Veterans Justice Act and how this act is designed to allow veterans to bring up their service in criminal courts. How this act will allow the 86% of all courts that do not allow for a SM to bring up their relevant service as it relates to their crime for the SM to bring up their service. This was just informational and asked the group to read the act to discuss at the next meeting. Finance Committee. Recommended that we have a finance committee to discuss how to handle our finances as the .5% interest rate on the account is not keeping with inflation. Motion to form a three-person committee by Harry Williams and seconded by Jim Monteton. Discussion and it was approved by all members present. Commanders Report: Saturday November 11th is Veterans Day at Sylvan Cemetery. It is expected that all members will be there. The senior health Fair was not that great as they were not on the program and no new members were signed up. On the 21st there is the HOWL a Ween event at Rusch Park this event goes from 0800- 1500. There are two big events that we want to put on this year. The firs is the veterans picnic in spring 2024. The goal is to have Texas Roadhouse donate the food for the event. The second is Battle of the Bands which has been on hold for several years. This event has been very profitable for AL. These funds are used to assist other veterans throughout CH. The Wall that heals committee is being recognized at Stones Gambling Hall in Dec. date not set yet. Meeting with the City about the wall that heals being built at Tempo Park. The next step is the design phase. Funds are being appropriated for the new building in Nov. Commander has been assisted with distributing food to the homeless the last couple of years. This includes backpacks and small hygiene kits. Commander asked for $200 for this years feed the homeless. Motion by Williams to provide $500 to commander for this event seconded by Mike Caron. Discussion was how would it look to provide a check to the commander with no strings. Suggestion to reword the motion to include the group and not commander and back this up with receipts. The motion failed. Motion by Stone and seconded by Williams to authorize the expenditure of up to $500 to feed the homeless in Citrus Heights, evidenced by receipts, to Commander Reyes.
