Summary: Overall, participants had a mixed experience , with strong value placed on networking and community exposure, but significant concerns about organization and communication—especially related to facilitation. Key Quantitative Findings ● Strongest areas ○ Organization for learning about Rutherford County: 4.00 (positive) ○ Community leaders/sessions: 4.17 (strongest rating) ○ Impact on community understanding/engagement: 3.83 (positive) ○ Willingness to recommend: 3.58 (moderately positive) ● Weakest areas ○ Facilitator communication and timeliness: 1.67 (very low) ○ Book review/leadership philosophy development: 1.92 (low) ○ Feeling supported and feedback considered: 3.00 (neutral/mixed) Major Themes from Written Feedback What participants valued most: ● Networking and building lasting relationships within the cohort ● Exposure to community leaders, organizations, and county operations ● Hands-on service project experiences (especially volunteer work) ● Increased understanding of Rutherford County and how systems connect ● Personal and professional growth through collaboration Most common concerns: ● Poor communication, frequent last-minute scheduling, and a lack of planning ● Facilitator professionalism, organization, and follow-through issues ● Inconsistent structure and “thrown together” sessions ● Confusion around fundraising expectations and logistics ● Book review component seen as ineffective or poorly integrated ● Travel demands and uneven participation in service/project work Suggested improvements: ● Stronger, more organized facilitation and earlier planning/scheduling ● Clearer communication systems (many cited issues with apps/notifications) ● More structured curriculum with a consistent agenda and expectations ● Increased hands-on learning and fewer lecture-only sessions ● Better project design and clearer guidance from the start ● Improved logistics (travel planning, food/lunch considerations, regional grouping of visits) Overall Takeaway Participants generally found the program valuable for connections, leadership exposure, and community awareness , but the experience was significantly impacted by organizational and communication challenges , which lowered satisfaction and confidence in program structure and facilitation.
