OVERBOUNDED Room in Bahia Azul Undergraduate Studio One, October 2025 Rhino, Illustrator, Museum Board, Pen and Pencil, Paper, Trace Paper A rigidly rectilinear precedent is altered with the addition of a space in Bahia Azul from an existing “opening.” Although programmed, the space acted as both a core portion of the house, and a space actually not part of the home at all. These ideas are critiqued, translated and analyzed through the creation of the new room, with it being entirely exterior, but still not only bounded, but overbounded by the facade systems, with the duplicative openings of the space and compression overemphasizing its initial idea in the home. The (not) final model freezes a particular resolution of this concept, and creates the strange “whole” which is broken through the systems of thirds, solid/void and uneasy indentation. 1 Pin-up of models and drawings 2 Basswood model Version 1 model Version 2.2 model Process sketches walls as void opening flipped opening horizontal vertical alternating aperatures Version 3.4 model & plan oblique Version 4.1 model & plan oblique Version 5.2 model & plan oblique Version 6.2 model & plan oblique Basswood model construction
