However, children under the age of 11 will not be required to wear face masks. Those who fail to comply with the rules can be fined up to £100.. The guidelines are designed to minimise the spread of Covid-19 but also to encourage people to start going back to shops. Scotland has enforced this rule since 10th July. Italy and Germany have already made it mandatory too. Throughout the pandemic, arguments have raged over the w e a r i n g o f f a c e m a s k s a n d unfortunately it has become political. But George Floyd isn’t the only life that was taken for granted. Breonna Taylor, Sean Monterrosa, Jamel Floyd, the list goes on and on. Celebrities have stood up and spoke up for what is right, such as Jamie Foxx, John Boyega, Jennifer Lopez, Bella Hadid, and even popular tiktoker Charli D’amelio put links in her tiktok b i o f o r b l a c k l i v e s m a t t e r donations and the email address to the Minneapolis police so people could express their anger about the death of George Floyd. These are only a few of the gestures that have been made, but still more needs to be said. Protests are wordwide, while some are calm and peaceful, some are quite the opposite. Protests in LA have been teargassed and bombarded, innocent people have been shot, cars have been set on fire. Luckily, slowly the protests are calming down, but the need for real change is now. clear. By Arthur Eaves 5L Going back to school is a great excitement for everyone. We get to see our friends, (although not all of them). We get to see our teachers and we start to do the things that felt so distant in lockdown. All over the nation, children have been attending school again after more than 3 months cooped up at home. Not everyone has been going back though with some people shielding others, or with family in very tight lockdown, or shielding themselves. At school, there are the social distancing measures although they are all worth it for seeing our friends. There is also hand sanitiser! We go in and H.S. (hand sanitise) and do our work, H.S. before fruit, H.S. before break, H.S. after break, do work, H.S. before lunch, H.S. after lunch, do work, H.S. before going home. There is a lot of hand sanitising. And I mean A LOT of hand sanitising 🤲 🧴 😂 We don’t share equipment and the school has a deep clean every two days. We wash our clothes every day and have to bring in our own food. And that is only a short list of the many things our school does. But still, despite all the safety measures, going to school after an age is awesome,. 👍 I love the smell of hand sanitiser in the morning... For e x a m p l e , y o u c a n water the p l a n t s t o h e l p pollination, or (if you don’t have a garden) pick some rubbish from the floor at your local park-be careful about what you touch and always wear gloves, of course! You may think that you aren’t able to do any of these things, but if you can’t make the Earth a better place then stop it from being a worse one! You can do this by not taking t h e c a r f o r s h o r t j o u r n e y s , remembering to switch off the lights when you exit a room, making sure you recycle your rubbish and trying to take shorter showers to prevent water being wasted. She takes a photo from t h e t o p o f a doubledecker bus of a colourful shop window but doesn’t notice the two people stood in front arguing. When the flash on the camera goes off, they turn towards Maia and she is convinced they mean to kill her, bringing trouble for her, the police and her family. I liked this book because it had lots of thrills and adventures. I also liked the suspense the author has created in the book and I like the risks Maia takes to avoid being captured. My favourite parts were t h e a c t i o n - p a c k e d shootout and car chase towards the end of the story and the part when the killer enters the house, which was quite scary. I l i k e d t h e m a i n character as she was very determined and brave as she faced the killer himself, and managed to e s c a p e . I w o u l d recommend this book to anyone who likes murder stories and adventure stories. I think it is for 9 years and older as it is quite scary and violent. I would say the book is a mystery genre and a bit of action and adventure. I would rate the book 9/10. Hope you read the book and enjoy it as much as I did. The 117- Storey Treehouse By Andy Griffiths & Terry Denton By Ottilie Barrera 3H This story involves lots of weird new levels, one of them is an underpants level, a door of doom, a giant robot fighting arena and 10 more. If you are interested in this, there are 8 other books f r o m t h i s s e r i e s . M y favourite character is Terry as he tries to keep everyone positive and happy. Andy gets quite angry with Terry in every story. Jill (Andy and Terry’s friend) has more than 55 animals. If you like the sound of this story, read it. It is quite f u n n y a n d v e r y a d v e n t u r o u s . T h e i l l u s t r a t i o n s a r e v e r y detailed and there is almost one on every page. ISSUE 5 JULY 2020 5 ISSUE 5 JULY 2020 POKÉMON SWORD & SHIELD * All you need to know about Pokémon The History of Pokémon: Pokémon is short for ‘Pocket Monsters’. Pokémon started off in a gaming magazine which existed in the early 1980s in Japan. It all started with Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori - Satoshi did the writing, while Ken did the illustrating. Awards: So far Pokémon GO alone has won 13 national awards and has been nominated for 11. Sword & Shield: Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield are basically the same apart from a few very small features... When playing Sword, at a certain point you receive the legendary Pokémon Zaican: However, when playing Shield, at a certain point you receive the legendary Pokémon Zamazenta: None of these Pokémon is necessarily better than the other because, in the game, they live together in the ‘Slumbering Weald’. At the beginning of either game you enter the Slumbering Weald to apparently ‘save’ a Wooloo. I will not give away too much but then the champion comes and saves you. Personal opinion: Personally, I would say that at the beginning it is a bit annoying because you have to watch a whole video that lasts about 20min and throughout there are videos/clips too. Also, you can not jump which in a way, stops you from completing the game in a disorderly fashion but also gets on the players nerves sometimes. There are brilliant graphics and you really feel as if you are doing what the person you are controlling is doing as well. I would recommend these games to 7-12year olds. Yellow like the leaves in autumn, falling down to the soft ground. Green like the shimmering grass over a big field in a light rain. Blue like a blueberry on a pancake , juicy and delicious. Indigo like the wings of a butterfly flying across the horizon. Violet like the colour someone would wear on a cold winter’s night. YOU’RE ON A ROLLERCOASTER By EDITORIAL TEAM Many people might find it tricky keeping quiet through a school assembly, never mind an entire roller coaster ride! But one Japanese theme park wants you to do that - and more. Fuji-Q Highland near Tokyo re-opened last month after its virus shutdown. It asked riders to avoid screaming when they go on its rollercoasters, to minimise spreading droplets, and instead "scream inside your heart”. Could you stay quiet on a rollercoaster, or would you just have to scream? W ANT TO WRITE FOR THE ARC ? THE ARC Got something to say?
