Wellbeing Cities Award 2021. Terms and Conditions Application process Eligible submissions Applications to the Wellbeing Cities Award can be submitted by: ● Senior city representatives; ● Representatives of a regional or national authority that coordinates and works with cities in a given territory. The application must be approved by a senior staff member or elected official who has the authority to enroll the city in the Wellbeing Cities Award. You may not submit an application if you are a private citizen and if you do not represent the city in any capacity. In order for the application to be considered in the evaluation process, your submission must: ● be entered into the official form; ● be accurate; ● be submitted in English ● be complete and the payment of the processing fee executed; ● be submitted by the official deadline. Eligible initiatives or strategies Applications to the Wellbeing Cities Award should present an initiative or strategy that is either ongoing, about to close with tangible outcome, or that ended after December 1st, 2018. Though they may be the result of collaboration between various actors, the presented initiatives or strategies must be implemented primarily by a municipality. Multiple applications Up to two applications may be submitted for the same city. These applications must present different initiatives and can be submitted within the same application form. In the case where more than two applications are submitted on behalf of the same city, only the last two submitted applications will be considered in the evaluation process. 1 Supplementary information Prior to any decision by the Jury, and during the entire selection process, the NewCities Foundation reserves the right to ask for clarification or supplementary information or documentation from the applicants. Language The language for applications to the Wellbeing Cities Award is English. Whilst the quality of written English is not a criterion for assessing applications, it is strongly recommended that the person completing the application whose first language is not English ensure that the application can be properly understood and communicates well. Applications submitted in a language other than English will be disqualified. Second round of applications Finalists will be invited to pitch their wellbeing projects and accomplishments to our jury of urban experts. The jury will deliberate and vote for the Wellbeing City of the year. The five finalist cities will be invited to collaborate on a campaign of creative content showcasing their initiatives and sharing best practices through a mini-video series, webinars, podcasts, and more. Jury The Wellbeing Cities Jury is composed of prominent educational figures drawn from government, civil society, the private sector, international organizations, universities, and social entrepreneurs, and nominated by the NewCities Foundation. The Jury will select the winning city. Communications The NewCities Foundation reserves the right to publicize the finalist and winning initiatives by means of any kind of communication (internal and/or commercial advertising), through any promotional media (press, magazines, catalogues, websites, etc.) globally. This communication may be in the form of pictures, recordings (audio and video), and texts supplied by each of the finalist cities. By reaching the finalist stage of the Wellbeing Cities Award, applicants agree to provide photos and descriptions of their projects at the time of the Award and for a period of at least two years following the Award. They also acknowledge the right of the NewCities Foundation to use this material. 2 The finalists and winner agree that the NewCities Foundation may at any point provide information about their application and the initiatives presented to media partners of the Wellbeing Cities Award. Data protection & GDPR compliance Contact information of participants (nominated representatives and applicants, nominees) for the 2021 Wellbeing Cities Award will be stored securely and used solely by the NewCities Foundation team. The data will not be provided to any third party organization. Finalists of the Award will be asked permission to pass on relevant contact details to appropriate media contacts. Applicants have the right to access, modify, and request the deletion of any personal data concerning themselves. Applicants may exercise their rights at any time by making the appropriate request in writing to wellbeing@newcities.org. Liability The NewCities Foundation reserves the right to modify the conditions of the call for applications and/or the Wellbeing Cities Award at any time. The NewCities Foundation shall not be liable if the call for applications is extended, shortened, modified, or canceled, or if problems arise with the website or due to loss of materials in e-mail and/or postal services. Applicants cannot dispute the choice of finalists or the winning city. Intellectual property The NewCities Foundation owns the intellectual property rights for texts, photos, films, documentaries, etc. made for the Wellbeing Cities Award and also for the trademarks and logos appearing in various supporting media. Consequently, the applicants cannot use them, in whole or in part, unless they have received specific authorization from the NewCities Foundation team. Governing law — jurisdiction These rules for the Wellbeing Cities Award shall be governed by the law of Switzerland and, in the event of a dispute regarding their interpretation or performance, such a dispute shall be submitted to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Switzerland. 3 Acceptance of the rules of the Wellbeing Cities Award Applying for the 2021 Wellbeing Cities Award implies full acceptance of and respect for these rules by the applicants. Interpretation of these rules falls within the exclusive competence of the NewCities Foundation.
