After reflecting on what felt like a disappointing result last weekend against Loughborough, we are determined to take the positives. We went away to the team 2nd in the division above, dominated for the first 45 minutes and ultimately let ourselves down for 15 minutes of the second half. The disappointment the players and staff felt, is a testament to the desire to achieve and the high standards we set ourselves as a group of players. Whilst me mustn't get too down about the result, we also recognise the opportunity to learn and grown as a group from it. We have had a positive reaction in training this week, and the hunger and commitment from the players has been evident. We want to finish our group games on a positive note, to give us the best chance of testing ourselves against the teams in the stronger half of the cup draw. We know that Derby are a young, hungry side with lots of talent and ability and that the fixture should be another fantastic game of football. We are relishing the opportunity of another test and will be giving our all to come out on top. As always thank you for your continued support! #COYP ADunleavy Adam Dunleavy Manager PARTNERS The amazing work that we do across our senior section would not be possible without the support of our partners. Thank you so much to everyone who has joined the NCFC Women's family for the 2020/21 season. As the club's main shirt sponsor, Woodthorpe Hospital is a vital partner whose support allows the team to flourish on the pitch. The hospital, which is a part of Ramsey Health Care, has been a pillar of the local community for over 100 years, having provided healthcare to the people of Nottingham since 1877. Thank you for your support, Woodthorpe Hospital! 3 THE OPPOSITION Derby County FC Women Academy are a grassroots football club and the third side at Derby County. The side gained consecutive promotions, along with a league, cup and league cup treble winning season on their way to the Division 1 South of the East Midlands Regional Football League. They ended last season in 6th place, with 3 wins and 7 defeats from their 11 games. Before the cancellation of the league, Derby sat top of the table with 10 points from their 5 games. Although they lost their opening fixture, they then went unbeaten in their last 4, winning 3 and keeping as many clean sheets. They have also started brightly in the Trevor Clifton Trophy, winning both games and scoring 5. I take the goalkeepers from both the L development squad and the first team every training session and put them through their paces! PREVIOUS CLUBS I spent just over five years as a community coach for Notts County Football in the K Community. This is where I got my desire to become a coach in the women’s game. AMBITIONS E I believe that the sky is the limit. With the back-room staff, players and support we have at the club, we can progress through the leagues. Everyone is on the same hymn sheet and we’re all pushing in the same direction both on and off the pitch. E COACHING FOR NCWFC P E Firstly, it is an honour to have my role at the club. I love doing what I do here. We are such a tight group of coaches; we spend more time with each other than we do with our families. The player are a breath of fresh air. They have the right attitude, the hunger to want to learn more every time they step on to the pitch. Every single one of R them will give their absolute all for the club. As a coach you cannot ask for more. FAVOURITE MOMENT My first season at the club. I was assistant manager to Sean Denham and the 9 development side. We won the league and narrowly missed out on the cup trophy too, losing in the final. A first season together as a team doesn’t get much better than that.
