Knit-Crochet Hook Wrap Personal Wrap to Hold Crochet Hooks and Short Knitting Needles by Serina Brenner on April 27, 2020 I made this Crochet Hook Wrap as a knitter as a gift to my sister who wanted a beginners crochet set for her birthday. I wanted to make something simple but cute and this did the trick! A very easy pattern that I believe a beginner knitter can create. Needle Size: US 6 (4.0mm) Yarn Used: Craftsmart Value Medium Weight Acrylic Yarn (two colors) (I needed something cheap and bulky during quarantine but hey it works) MC - Gray C1 - Teal Additional Resources: ● 2 buttons (¾ inch diameter) ● One yarn needle ● Needle and thread (or thin yarn) to attach buttons to project 4” Gauge: 18 stitches by 28 rows in stockinette Key: K - Knit P - Purl K2tog - Knit two together 1 Base Square CO 55 Stitches in MC (1 - 10) K* (11) K5 P45 K5 (12) K* (13-50)Repeat Rows 11 and 12 to row 50 (51-59) K* - Bind Off and Weave in Ends Crochet Hook/Needle Band Face the Base Square so the border (and knit side) is facing up Pick up stitches by hooking a needle through 5 stitches (roughly center) about 3-5 stitches away from the edge of the base square so your needle is parallel with the short sides border. When picking up these stitches be sure to skip every other stitch to space out the stitches. (Picking up every stitch would create a very tight knit) Knit with C1 to the size you desire your band (50-55 rows garter stitch) and cast off **Note: I realized after making the band that I wanted to see the division of the loops so it was easy to slip the crochet hooks in. Doing this after making the band looks messy, to combat this you may wish to switch colors every 4-6 rows (Depending on desired loop size)** Creating the Crochet Loops: Every 4-6 rows of the band take some of your MC yarn to bind rows of the band to the base square, creating your crochet loops. Make sure when sewing through the base square you loop through one stitch at a time (as though picking up stitches) to prevent showing the stitches on the other side of your base square. When stitching the band to the base square, choose to sew the pearl rows on the band as they “pop” out towards the base square. This way you will not see stitches through the band. Continue making loops until the end of the band - weave in tails 2 Pockets Pick up 10 stitches from your base square so your needle is parallel with the long side of your base square. When picking up stitches make sure you pick up one loop per stitch (“V”) Knit 14 rows for the small pocket (18 rows for the large) in stockinette stitch and cast off keeping a long tail Use the long tail to bind the sides of the pocket to the base square, picking up loops one at a time in order to make sure you don’t see the second color on the other side of the base square **Note: When picking up stitches for the second pocket make sure the rows you pick up are in line with the stitches you picked up for the first pocket** Button Strap On the short side of the project closest to your pockets, pick up 10 stitches in the middle of the edge of your base square (1-16) K* (17) K6, pull the 5th stitch over the 6th (as if to cast off), K1, pull the 6th stitch over the 7th, K4 (this makes the button holes) (18) K4 CO2 K4 (ending with 10 stitches) (19-25) K* (26) Repeat Row 17 (27) Repeat Row 18 (28-34) K* (35) Repeat Row 17 (36) Repeat Row 18 (37) K2tog (K* to last 2 stitches) K2tog (38) K* 3 (39-42) Repeat Rows 37 and 38 two times (until there are 4 stitches left on your needle) Bind off and weave in ends Use C1 yarn to clean up button holes by stitching around the holes and weaving in ends Buttons Fill your wrap with hooks and anything you wish to fill the wrap with Curl the wrap and with stitch markers mark where the 1st and 3rd button holes align on your base square Attach 1 button at each stitch marker, making sure if your buttons align with your pockets, you do not sew the pockets shut Additional Notes To attach the needles to my wrap I simply used a twist tie, but a removable stitch marker will work To make your square look as even as possible block the base square before adding any bands or pockets 4
