Hello and welcome to our second newsletter for Forest Hill Residents! This news- letter has been created for you, the residents, to keep up to date with your local police team and to be made aware of any issues we have dealt with, are dealing with and any other items of interest. If you have something for the newsletter, please contact us and we can add it to the next addition. This will be sent out monthly and will contain Sta- tistics, any advice from Police and any ‘ Good News ’ sto- ries the team can share with you. These will inter- change to keep the news- letter light and entertain- ing as well as informative and a way to speak directly to you, our residents. Well, PC Angel has success- fully completed his course at Hendon and now has full training in order to operate the equipment needed. A few residents have expressed concerns with regards to speeding vehicles on Dartmouth Road, so a stop site will be set up at the location in due course, along with other areas of course! If you have a specific road in mind, then please get in touch with us and we can schedule something in the diary. Speeding Vehicles... We will Prosecute you!! Speaking to residents it has become apparent that vehicle crime is a issue that they care passionately about. From stolen vehicles to speeding cars we ’ re aiming to stomp this out!. As stated above traffic sites will be set up and day of action will take place as well as registration plate checks whilst on mobile patrol. Any vehicle speeding, not insured or any cause for concern will either be stopped at location or flagged for our system so any AMPR camera ’ s would be notified. At our COFFEE WITH A COP event we held on the 26th JULY at Forest Hill Pools we spoke to a resident that stated her road is subject to motor vehicle crime so FOREST HILL SNT will conduct more patrols around the specific area in order to prevent and protect. Seasonal Crime - Preparations & Prevention Vehicle crime and what we’re doing! Be safe, be secure! Much like last months issue this issue con- tains burglary advice as it is the season. Despite burglary being very low in the ward of Forest Hill, burglary is a seasonal crime and one of the biggest spikes, happens in summer. Lock your sheds! Sheds have been used in the past in order to find tools and gain entry into peoples homes. If you are going away for the holidays, please ensure locking doors and windows are part of your pre - holiday checklist. Many residents have been in touch with us due to concerns of an increase of theft from motor vehicle and theft of motor vehicles. The team have been taking an extremely pro - active approach regarding this. We have recovered and seized over 43 stolen vehicles and have gained some valuable intelligence with regards to how those involved are operating in the area. The team have also been allocated a budget in order to tackle these issues as robustly as possible. That being said, vehicle crime is now decreasing on the ward, but this is something we will continue to tackle as we are aware of the impact it has on so many of our residents. Safer Neighbourhood Teams will all be gaining freshly trained PCSO ’ s ready to hit your streets. The teams will be strengthened to hopeful- ly similar standards of As many of you will have seen, by the end of the financial year, the Metro- politan Police wish to have recruited 500 new PCSO ’ s. This will mean that all existing back in the late 2000’ s. This will allow targeted patrols, more community engagement and a further reduction in crime. Tool Thieves and Vanishing Vans... Continued Safer Neighbourhood Teams - Back To The Hay Day The Link Between Mental Health Teams & Police granted to the Mental Health Teams. The warrant is then executed with a police presence. It has been decided that the Mental Health Teams now have the capacity to con- duct these enquiries alone, which will in turn, mean that the SNT ’ s time can be resourced in different ways, and will be able to focus their shifts around policing purposes. That being said, we will always actively assist should the need arise. As many of you may al- ready be aware, as a Saf- er Neighbourhood Team, a large amount of time can be spent working alongside Mental Health Services in order to assist vulnerable residents. This is ordinarily done via a court order which is Page 3 Volume 1. Issue 2. If you or someone you know is suffering from Mental Health issues, you can contact your local GP, attend A&E or call 999 in an emergency. You are not alone, we are here to help. This section of the newsletter is dedicated to community engagement events that are yet to come! Please never think that you cannot approach police, whether you have a problem with something in the area, a question for the officers, or if you wish report a crime . Please know that we are here to help and will happi- ly assist you with anything you may require. Due to this, we will be holding a engagement events at various locations on the ward. Currently this is being held at FOREST HILL POOLS as you may see these posters within. These posters will have dates and times written on the white boxes and changed after each session. The next session will be 18th AUGUST at 1600. We encourage anyone to come along who wishes to speak with us. Equally, if you just wish to meet your local team to say hello, that would also be welcomed. Page 5 Volume 1. Issue 2. Patrol radius & routes This is the radius of the Forest Hill Ward .... That ‘ s a lot of area to cover but due to the positive reaction we received from being seen conducting foot patrols we have actively increased foot patrols in the area and will hopefully regularly be seen by the community. Patrols will also include weapon sweeps and general engagement with the public. Recently 2 officers spent the majority of the day on foot patrol which resulted of a combined step count of 55,317 steps in one day which we aim to beat. Every 3 months, the panel meets and discuss face to face, issues and problems on the wards that can be solved with The Police Team. These meetings are held at either Forest Hill Library, which is located on Dartmouth Road, or via Zoom Meeting. We are always looking for new members that live or work within Forest Hill whom have issues, want to have a voice in their community and those whom want to make a difference. Our next meeting yet to be confirmed but will be taking place in Sep- tember. Please email us expressing your interest in joining, and you will be added to the ward list.
